President Donald Trump's tougher immigration policy has created new challenges for LG Energy Solution and its domestic peers, Samsung SDI and SK On, as they follow through on their billions of dollars of investment pledges made under the previous Biden administration.

They are also bracing for weakening demand for electric vehicles in the U.S., as a $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs, introduced by the Biden administration, is set to expire at the end of the month

RIP EV it seems. Trump wants 100% cars with oil as fuel, at least the ones being sold in the US.

Trump had one job and he failed so hard that made me think if he really has an anti EV agenda. Because his actions points that... when the world tries to stop use the traditional cars to transition to EV.

Oil companies and gas guzzling auto makers lining his pockets. What else could it be?

The impact goes beyond EV & battery industries

This will impact Samsung (also Korean) & TSMC chip fab plans in USA

Aparently TSMC is not totally affected for now, but the image left from the USA thanks to ICE... heck, ICE is about to fully destroy the image of USA big time
I'm sure the foreign engineers and whatnot who have to come to the US to help set up machinery and train the US domestic workforce are going to be banging down the doors to help after seeing what happened at the Hyundai plant in Georgia.

Trump himself seems to realize they really fucked up but the attempt to repair the breach is not even what I'd call half hearted and the Koreans are very much not impressed. Rubio is too busy trying to blow up random Venezuelans to bother going out to one of our most important allies.

Fixing the problem would also mean reigning in Steven Miller, Homan, and Noem, and that has about a snowball's chance in hell of actually happening.

Trump 2.0 seems to be hell-bent on making China Great Again. So much for domestic EV battery production…we hardly knew ye.

Edit: Yes, I know what Tesla and Panasonic are doing in the US and elsewhere outside of China, but those aren’t fully ramped up either and I believe their newest cells are still imported before being assembled here (could be wrong though).
