<< I started out with a 75GXP. For the first year and a half, I would wake up, turn on my computer, use it all day, and shut it down when I went to bed. I was skeptical about the alleged problems for that period of time as well. Recently I've been running it 24x7. It took under a month for the drive to fail. It was replaced by another 75GXP which took no more than 4 days to fail. I finally replaced it with a WD and I'm quite happy with the results. My suggestion is if you've got anything terribly important sitting on an IBM drive, you buy another drive immediately and back up onto it and definitely don't buy and IBM hard disks for a while. >>
exaclty what i'm saying, those who haven't seen this drive fail yet, will see it sooner than later. yeah eventually all drives will fail but the ibm ones seem to fail much much sooner.
