BTW it closes 1/28/01. Sorry.

But i do see that some people are offering help to host the site themselfs on their severs so lets see what happens. I sure hope someone saves the site. I wonder if there is anyway to save the site on our HD just in case? Or do we have to print everything out?

SR will be closed. Davin and Eugene do not want it transfered to the hands of others. They consider it their baby and SR will follow them to the grave. The only thing you can hope for is to have a new review site pop up amid the ashes, but with a different name.

<< IBM 34GXP = Great
IBM 75GXP = Problematic
Seagate Barracuda IV = Great
Seagate Metalist = Problematic
WD Caviar (around 1.6GB - 8.4GB) = Very Problematic
WD BB series = Pretty good so far.
Quantum Bigfoot = Laughing stock of the storage industry
Quantum Fireball (recent) = Good

The real laughing stock of the storage industry was the JTS Champ! :)

I wouldn't put one of those in Usama's pc. Well, that may be stretching it but still.

Cheers!

I've had two 75GXPs ( 30Gb ) in my system for over a year now and so far they've been running flawlessly and quiter than any other hard drivers I had before.

Anyone pick one up yet? At $308 for the 120 GB 120GXP you're better offer buying the WD1200JB SE which is a known quantity. But there must be some brave souls here....?

Although I can understand the bitterness some of you feel in regards to IBM HD's (those that have had HD's die), I have really been happy with my IBM 60GXP. I have the same sort of cinisism for maxtor and western digital drives (had lots of those HD's die on me in the past). I look forward to the new IBM series of HD's, and hope they continue to improve the performance and reliability of their HD's (and yes, I too would like to see their price come down a bit). When the time comes, I will definitely be upgrading my system to a 120GXP.

Regarding StorageReview, I think AnandTech should consume it and let the original guys continue to maintain it.
