Fx 6300 Is slower then an i7 920.. and barely Faster then an i5 760 ....

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/699?vs=100

The burden of proof rests with the one who made the claim. I am still waiting for a link that shows an FX6300 faster than a 3570K.

Do you guys even use your PCs, or just have them doing super pi loops all day? Do you really think that an i5 + HDD is a better system than a FX6300 + SSD? Or maybe tons cinebecnh single theraded runs? Gotta use that IPC, right? Most of the typical desktop PC usage comes from usage dependent on user input, stuff where the SSD shines. ANY applications that has some reliance on system throughput will prove SSD hands down also.

If you want fx6300 + ssd vs i5 + hdd, I don't think any reviewer has done a comparison that way, but I'll look for it, and I know your beloved PCMark will give you the answers. However, let's do it ourselves. I offer one of my FX6300 + SSD sytems to test. Does anyone of you offer an i5 + HDD system? I'll even accept to use pcmark. Or, I could stack the deck and pick the workload. DVD VOB compilation? Thumbnails creation? Photo RAW edition in Corel aftershot pro? Video editing in Sony Vegas Pro? PDF merging in PDF-Xchange? "But, but where is the link...?"

Ok, you insist on "links" and "hard numbers", let's try this: Tom's SSD vs HDD "but, but it doesn't say FX6300!" Ok, how about this. Let's assume the OP really cares about gaming performance, so scratch the SSD. Well, the 320-350 RON from the SSD goes toward a better video card; and if he had a HD 7770 in his budget, he can jump to a HD7850, or from GTX650Ti to HD7870, or from HD7850 2GB to a HD7950 or GTX660Ti. Do you want a link also showing a HD7950 being faster than a HD7850?

If gaming, video card is king. Going with the FX6300 gets him a better system, because with the same budget, he can upgrade parts that will give more dramatic performance increases, either video card or SSD addition. Is that really hard to digest?

Frozentundra, what do you have as system? Would you be up to putting it for some runs? I have 2 systems with FX6300, SSD and HD7870s (boys' machines) My machine has FX8320 with SSD and HD7950, so I could loan the HD7950 to one of those machines if needed. How about gaming with i5 3570 + H61/Z77 MB + video card combo that will equal the price of FX6300 + AM3 MB + HD7870 combo? Do you think the HD7870 will be scared of the "monster" GTX650ti that is all the budget will allow to stay in the same combo price? Hey, that GTX650ti system will have "intel inside..." so it has to be faster at gaming, right?

ps. I am taking neither of you have used systems with SSDs. Oh wait, wasn't one of you claiming to have 7 of them? Obviously that is a lie, because no rational user that has gone SSD will omit it from a build, unless his PC is exclusively a console on steroids. And if that is the case, why settle for the inferior combination of faster CPU + slower GPU vs the superior combination of slower CPU + faster GPU?

FX6300(647 RON) + Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P (203 RON)

AM3 board adapted to AM3+, and it's designed for 95w TDP, so I suppose you cannot overclock and I've seen quite a few complains about stability issues running these low end Am3 boards with BD...

and the difference from the i5 to the 6300 for gaming can be significant

i5 2400 + H61 shouldn't cost a lot more (the link is not working anymore for me)?

edit: i5 3350P (faster than the 2400) = 827,32 RON, Asus h61 202,66 RON
price difference of 180 RON (which google tells me is 50 usd),

I have a FX-6300 overclocked to 4.6 at 1.42v. Under load (Prime 95) I barely break 40c with a 212 EVO. Fantastic chip for the money. No doubt a 3570 is faster, but outside of benchmarking and a few niche things you wont be able to tell the difference.

Saved about $150 vs a similar featured Intel board with the 3570. Money better spent on the 7950 I put it towards ;)
