I agree with your first paragraph completely OP. In my view, anyone who's a member of ANY party has their head up their ass and is likely to be wrong more often than they're right. I also believe firmly that anyone seeking to be in politics should NEVER be allowed in politics.

That being said, I vote in every election because if I don't nothing can possibly get better. Nothing HAS gotten better even with me voting, but I can guarantee it will continue if we don't participate. It's like the old lottery ads - you can't win if you don't play.

Your statements are quite bizarre. If nobody seeking politics can be in politics how does anyone get into politics? Picking random people off the street??

The problem is voting in the first place because that is how politicians get into power. So if we don't participate by non-violently resisting outrageous taxes and regulations AND not voting, things will probably get a lot better.

My minor for my history degree was political science, with a focus on electoral systems. Wanna try me and find out how wrong you are?

Some political science people are remarkably misguided, misinformed. You may or may not be more generally.

You didn't begin to respond to my points so you're off to a bad start in 'proving' anything except saying you can prove a point. So, go ahead.

To vote is a civic duty, don't listen to Craig he s been "disappointed" lately.

Don't misrepresent my position. I vote, and I advocated for the OP to learn why his reasons for not voting are wrong reasons, so that he votes, too.

If I vote democrats, they will fuck me.

If I vote GOP, they will fuck me.

As long as special interests control the system, they will fuck me.

Maybe I'll just let someone else choose who fucks me. I don't really care!

More ignorance about the difference between progressive Democrats versus the rest.

Even in this country we have the protected right NOT to vote.
But you might want to vote anyway for any ballot issues.
Like maybe the ballot issue to gas anyone that doesn't vote.

I don't like any single candidate. I don't like the party system. I don't believe anything any single one of them spews.

Try to convince me all you want. They don't deserve my time or energy.

Homerboy if anything you should go vote for Governer. Doyle has killed business in this state bad enough and we don't need any more of that! And don't get me started on the I've never made a living in the real world Feingold:'(

Sorry just had to.... Read all you can tonight and vote. It is a right a lot have died to give you!

It's a different picture in WI this year...... first time in a long time for us. That is were the OP is from.

You seem to believe that Progressive democrats are running in every district, in every state.
Unless you live in Dennis Kucinich's district or Bernie Sanders state of Vermont, there's no hope for a progressive candidate.

Oh and don't say Nancy Pelosi, Barnie Frank, and Maxine Waters are progressives because they clearly are not.

Not at all, I understand that, but the comments don't reflect any understanding of the differences.

And nearly all members of the progressive caucus are 'progressive members', and much better choices than the alternatives.

Pelosi is IMO. I've never liked Maxine Waters for decades, but her votes are still a lot better than average. Barney Frank is generally good - with exceptions.

But there's a long list of very good members out of 83 on the list, with a good agenda for the country, not well understood, as I've pointed out here many errors.

A vote for a Republican is a vote for Republican control of the body, for the Republican party agenda, and that has to be weighed as well.

Then go vote for the challenger instead of the incumbent. If everybody did that then eventually you would think they would get the message.

This is a good plan. You could also find the third party you find the least repugnant and vote for their candidates. At least then the parties will know yours was a vote they could have had, rather than just another loser staying on home for the circuses on television.

In NYS you are required to be in a party to vote in primaries, thus I am a member of a party. I think it's a dumb and inane rule, but I understand why it exists.

Either the Libertarians or Constitutionalists or Labor parties should partially appeal to you. Vote for them and make a real statement. Instead of pissing on a tech forum where you know god damn well nothing is gonna change.

I'll be voting against Cuomo for NY gov. I found out that he was responsible for shaking down practioners here for violations of obscure regulations. That way he and spitzer could get hundreds of millions back for services given in good faith and claim they were fighting fraud. Even spitzer said recently he wouldn't trust him and that's saying a good deal. Gotta toss the dems out this time.
Good luck with that.
Cuomo has a 15-20+ point lead against his opponent.
Remember when Spitzer won NY with 70% of the vote?

Why on Earth would you even passingly consider voting for Paladino? You're a liberal, and Paladino's - well, I'm not sure anyone knows what Paladino is at this point, but not much of him is liberal. If I were in New York, even I'd vote for Cuomo and it takes a lot to make me vote Democrat. The Green Party is merely the American Communist Party with a bit more window dressing - and obsolete to boot now that the Democrat Party has moved so far left.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for voting against Democrats even if only to send a message, but Cuomo seems like a bad place to start.

People hate themselves and don't know that they do. This makes them easy to manipulate. All you have to do is run some negative adds and tell folk politicians are dirty and they won't vote for any of them. People who hate themselves are easily convinced that doing this or that will make them dirty and they can't allow any such feeling. In this way Republicans insure that more people who vote will be Republicans. They don't mind being dirty at all. They have enough self hate, more than usual, to feel that's how they should feel. He who can stoop the lowest wins is the Republican pay book.

Rubbish.
Until you outlaw political parties or allow citizens to vote in any party primary they wish, I will continue to be registered to a political party.

Any citizen in Virginia(regardless of party registration status) is able to vote in the Republican primary if they want. They can't vote in both primaries though.
The vice versa is also true for Republicans voting in Democrat primaries.

I'm a moderate, but sometimes our elections have either extreme socialist candidates and extreme social conservative/tea party candidates. It would be nice to remove the stupid candidates early so one doesn't endup having to choose between Stupid vs. Stupid in November.
Not a single political party has all the solutions.

If Delaware citizens were able to do this, I'm sure Mike Castle would be the next senator for their state.
Many voters prefer Mike Castle >> Chris Coons >> Sarah Palin Jr, Christine O'donnell.
However because of the way the system is setup, the voters lose.

Similarly, If Florida citizens were able to do this, I'm sure Charlie Crist would be the next senator for their state, and not Marc Rubio the idiot(Believe it or not, the Democrat Kenrick Meek running in that race is even more an idiot than Rubio is).
Many voters prefer Charlie Crist >> Marc Rubio >> Kenrick Meek.
However because of the way the system is setup, the voters yet again lose.

The same is going on in Alaska(along with other states) as well.
Both political parties are moving closer to the extreme ends all for the sake of party purity rather than electing people with common sense solutions.
Not a single political party has all the solutions.

So you've finished with insane ranting and moved on to indoctrination? Wasn't there supposed to be an acceptance phase in there somewhere?
When you write this stuff, do you shake a tambourine in one hand while you type? Maybe burn some incense, or draw secret markings on the floor? I gota tell ya, I'm a little curious.
I really hope you're as crazy as you portray yourself to be, because if you're not, then you're just another idiot that read a pop psych pamphlet and can't get over it. That would be a real let down, I've come to enjoy your particular form of crazy.

Since the voters have exactly that choice, we can see precisely how many voters prefer Crist to Rubio or Meek. If anything the vote will be skewed in Crist's favor; since everyone knows Meek has no chance at all, Crist will presumably be the beneficiary of some voters who prefer Meek but place Rubio last.

No nothing like that. First I get angry scream and pound my fists into my theighs till they bruise. Then, when I break through the rage into the sadness I start to cry. Then I cry and cry till my tears turn to memory over what I am sad about. Once I remember I awaken in understanding and my sadness turns to grief. Once I greave for a while I heal and start to laugh my ass off. And I laugh and I laugh and I laugh because I'm alive again, having just gone down to hell and back. And I dredge up from those incredible depth that nobody but me can access all this incredible truth and knowledge that makes you gasp with dismay. I can see in your dark and you sense it is true. I am a mind worm that turns in your sleep. I shimmer all over of red pill and you still feed the machine. You say you don't want me to let you down, but it's you who won't go down where I go because you're terrified. I know more about you then you can possibly imagine. We are all the same. ;)

I don't vote because it's a defacto agreement giving my consent to being governed. No thanks. I don't need no governing. English classes maybe.
