I was wondering, given the grave crisis the nation is in

The 20th Amendment requires ""The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January"" - not that the Constitution has meant anything to Bush and Cheney.

I think the legal way to do it would be for Cheney to resign, Bush to appoint Obama as Vice President, Congress approve Obama as Vice President --- and then Bush resign as President.

Bush/Cheney has too much to do in the next 3 months ---- I'd love to have a paper shredding business in northern Virginia

Or is he too deeply committed to the farce that everything been just great?

Seeing as how he's trying to squeeze in some policy changes even at this point in time, i highly doubt it.

Bush doesn't care about the state of the nation.

Hope springs eternal, MB. Sadly, that's too much to ask for. I'd be thrilled if he just secluded himself to Crawford and spent the next few months clearing brush, "working hard, hard work, [mumbles mindlessly]." (Cheney should just remain in isolation in his lair -- in an undisclosed location, deep within the bowels of the earth -- pulling wings off of flies.)

Sorry, I should have put more thought into my reply to a meaningless thread. :D

Think of Moonbeam threads as mirrors where you can reflect who you are. You may have assumed that I genuinely believe that what I proposed could actually happen and that, therefore, I was just being profoundly stupid and naive. I assure you such was not the case. But the lemons of truth can sometimes be turned into lemonade, no? In this dark time I thought we could have some fun. You may have dove head first into an empty pool, but that's just fine here.

We've some months to go before our national disaster is out of office so what's wrong with having some fun in a fantasy where Bush does something right for a change.

Can you imagine what it would do for his popularity if he got himself out of the way now?

Edit: Something bothering me here. Is it dove or diven? Oh hell, it's dived.

Interesting. Just heard part of a report on npr that dhs is telling employees that they should follow the 'current' presidents/administration's orders and not the president-elect's after tomorrow. Do you know something Moonbeam?

Why would they follow the President-elect's orders when he isn't even sworn into office?

The political appointees might be angling to keep their jobs?

Or a paper making one for all those pardons.

Lack of oxygen. The Obama Wave has me cruising at a good hundred thousand feet.

I knew you've been high on something.

That's smug.

Not to worry. He had hopes of reaching orbit in a third party lead balloon and now he's miffed because I told him the rocks in his basket case won't provide the appropriate lift.
