yes.

I swear to God people who sue for sh-t like this deserve what they get.
Well, being late is hardly grounds for assault. Still, wanting to sue is sort of childish.

Hitting the kid isn't assault.

Well, I didn't file a report or anything. Not worth it. I wasn't injured really, and ...it just seemed pointless.

I did find out he slapped her though from one of her friends. :(

i guess you shouldn't have helped her sneak out. and from reading your posts, I highly though it was a "slap" probably a little smack on the cheek.

IDK if this had been a case with me there might have been another side to it. If I had driven someone home from another friends house and had their father start chunking things at me, I would have fought back. I wonder how many of you "ohh if this were my daughter" people would feel if he had beaten the father down, would he have been justified. How would you guys feel about an asshole who doesn't realize the extent of his own rights. He has right to be pissed off but that is it, once he initiates an attack on me, it is my right to defend myself and/or anyone who he is also thretenenig physically. Are either circumstanse right? NO I would say not. I have only one thing really working for me and that is that physically I am a big guy, and I can take a hell of a lot of hits before going down. So I guess my perspective is a bit off, it does however sound like amd was trying to vent his hurt pride by thinking about the report, I think he realized it wasn't that bad. But seriously if someone attacked me for no reason but that I was taking his daughter home late he would have a serious altercation to deal with, now I am not being all mocho I mught lose but I would go down with a fight. It is just that it doesn't sound like he was dating/fornicating with the mans daughter.

lick your wounds, no more crying.

if you want to "hang out" with your 15 year old friend any more, i'd suggest you talk to the father.

otherwise, get over it, chalk it up, move on, and dont take any minors out after curfew.

that is all.

I agree.. If I was the father, I'd have done much worse. He's lucky he got by with a little smack on the face.

Well if you want to do something and have the ability to back that up...go after the father. There was this kid in my neighborhood that'd always pick fights with me and lose, he'd try to blindside me whereever I was...it turned out his father would beat the crap out of his mother and him almost nightly....

I found out about it when another mother explained he was really abused and that's why he'd pick these fights with me.

We started survailance via camcorder of the incidents and then launched a barrage of attacks on the father's prized pickup truck...we burned his tape collection inside the cabin and pushed it into the woods chaining it to a large pine tree with several locks and chains attached to various points of his truck. We left the video tape on the seat of the car with instructions that it would be sent to the Principal of the Elementary school he taught at, along with the State Attorney, Child Services, and a couple other places...if we witnessed anymore beatings.

You should sue.

Its not like you're going to win. Judge will probably laugh at you under his breath and if a jury is involved, you better hope none of them have kids. You really think some mommy is going to be on the side of some 17 year old who steals the innocense of little girls. Do you even want that bad publicity?...

There is no curfew.
There is no curfew.
There is no curfew.
There is no curfew.
There is no curfew.
There is no curfew.
There is no curfew.
There is no curfew.

Therefore, I could not have taken her out after curfew.

I'm a minor too. How do minor's kidnap other minors?

And once again, no romantic reason for us being out.

So I was taking this girl home and we stopped outside her house and her dad comes up to the car and hits me.

Sure, she wasn't supposed to be outside, sure, it was after curfew, but nothing can justify him hitting me.

So, how would one ensure their ability to sue the individual?

Do I need to file a police report and press charges or can I just sue?
Make up my mind here.

You MORON, HER CURFEW, RULE OF HER FATHER NOT THE TOWN.

There is no need to shout, you gormless twit.
He said sure, it was after curfew - How the hell do I know whose curfew it was.

People like you need to be educated. You can yell at the kid and threaten him, but crossing the line and getting physically violent with someone (especially a minor) is just plain ignorant and pointless.
