You could be a bouncer at a strip club.
Even full time I wouldn't be taking home 500.00

I am bouncing now just not at a strip club.

Then you are bouncing at the wrong places, the bouncers I know make mad bank.

10/hr is standard for everywhere around here that I've heard of.

Where are these clubs and what is Mad bank?

Most bouncers I know make a cut of the tips, even if is small, and most bouncers take a ton of bribes to get in the door to skip the lines.

I was reading an article that if you're working at some of the top clubs in Vegas the bouncers make 11k a weekend.

Seriously, though... try to get an IT consultant job. Those pay well in your area.

The fact that you post on Anandtech proves that you're already smarter than some IT guys that I know. Now all you need is some BS certification like A+ to prove that you know something.

dental hygenist. $80k/yr. just 2yrs training at your local community college.

(they're the people busy dentist hire just to clean your teeth.)

That must be for CA. The national average is ~62k/yr. which is amazing in its own right.

Yea my ex did that and she made 38k

She must have worked part-time. Because that's only like $18/ hour. Starting pay for new hygiene grads are $25-30/ hour. Experienced hygienist make $40+ hour. If you're willing to work your butt off and clean kid's teeth in factory like setting, you can make $100k a year with commissions. That requires full 5 days of work and basically no lunch break. $62k a year national average is about spot on.

Weren't you the guy who was looking at buying a S4 not to long ago? This reminds me of the commercial that some American car company ran years ago with a guy in a BMW delivering Pizzas while his friends in the cheaper American car were headed out for a night on the town.

Its do-able but highly unlikely except in any trade profession, or job requiring a college degree.

I didn't end up buying anything. I chose a different direction for my life. I am actually driving a 1988 honda accord lx-i right now.

Ummm...ok lets put some perspective on this. I live in new haven, connecticut. It is like omish country compared to vegas.

Well that's great. I wasn't trying to give you a hard time as much as I was just stating what the situation reminded me of.

Why not doing programming? It is one of the easier things to do consulting part-time.

I don't like programming and I'm not particularly "good at it"

You don't have to be good at programming to do IT work anymore unless you WANT to be a programmer. Help Desk, desktop support, and even some server administration work requires practically no programming other than editing a few batch files.

Being willing to work nights and weekends will help you get your foot in the door, though... nobody likes working those hours so there are usually positions open during the graveyard shifts.
