well, i am 18 years old with a very high metabolic rate, i am 6 foot 4 inches and weigh about 160 pounds, which puts my BMI (body mass index) at 19.5. in the morning i eat cereal and drink a glass of juice, and at night i usually eat very well because my family makes a lot of good food (meat dishes, pastas, salads, fruits/veggies, etc.).

however when i eat lunch, i usually eat a hot pocket or a pizza (sodium filled crap), a bag of cookies, and a bottle of water. i want to change what i eat for lunch but i need some good suggestions besides hot pockets and pizza. im looking for something i wont get tired of real fast. also something that is very filling and pretty healthy. i have already decided to bring stuff like carrots and such instead of cookies. but as a "main dish", what should i bring? i might start eating subway sandwiches, but i would rather spare myself the 20 dollars a week and bring my own food. so far im thinking peanut butter and jelly and ham/cheese sandwiches. but at the moment thats all i can think of, any other suggestions?

cliffs:
1) im kinda skinny
2) i want to eat a better lunch
3) i have an idea of what to eat but need more suggestions.

i thought this thread would be about Fatty McFatfat, the fattest fat that ever fatted

don't worry, eat all the junk you can now and love it! once you get a little older, you're allowed to worry about that crap. trust me, i used to be so skinny my Dad always asked me, "is that your legs or are you riding a chicken?" ehhe you'll put on weight later.

but if i had to give you a nice lunch suggestion... hmm... i like reheated pasta from the night before, or leftovers... like chicken breast & a Lipton sidekick or something.

Here's the best idea: SKIP LUNCH.

I've been skipping either breakfast or lunch every day now for 4 years and have been happily healthy. 4 years ago I was a fat lard. I cut one meal out of each day and now I'm 5' 8" and 160 pounds (and I work out now too, so muscle weight has increased).

Honestly, humans don't need 3 meals per day. You get used to it and eating 3 per day makes you feel like a fatso. Plus, if you start calculating how much $$$ you save over a month, or a year, of skipping lunch....it's impressive.

Eat a lot of chicken breasts... You're about the same size I am (I'm 6'3 155) and since I've entered the working world, I've started to notice that its easy to put on weight, but its not easy to put on the right kind of weight. You'll thicken up soon enough. I was 6'3 145 when I started college. Don't get used to eating a bunch of junk!

That advice is hillarious when you consider that he is too skinny.

Yeah... great idea... that way your body can bounce around from excess to starvation and back again 2x a day instead of just at night.

To the OP, compared to the hot pockets and pizza, the sandwiches are a real step up. I also like a salad for lunch... I change the dressing to change the flavors, and the crunch makes me feel like I'm actually eating something.

That's a poor idea.

No it's not a poor idea. What's poor is the media hype you all believe that people MUST HAVE LUNCH or else they'll collapse.

If you eat a healthy breakfast (fruit, cereal, skim milk, 100% juice, etc.) you can EASILY last until you eat an early supper (another HEALTHY idea to eat not-so-close to bedtime).

It cuts out the urge to eat junk at noon, and it gives that supper less time to settle as fat once you go to sleep.

If anything, drink a big 'ole protein shake at lunch to fill that gap. Trust me, it's a killer for a week or two. After that your body adjusts just fine, and you'll forget all about it. It's definitely made me healthier by encouraging me to eat a healthy breakfast as well as an early supper.

Salads are good, very filling. One of my favorites is...

Romain lettuce
cooked, diced chicken breast
red onion (chopped or sliced, I prefer sliced)
diced tomato
bacon bits
parmesan cheese
dressing consisting of 4 parts ranch to 1 part open pit BBQ sauce

^^ Many smoothie joints will "add a protien supplement" for like $0.50 extra, and since it's in a delicious fuit smoothy, it doesn't taste so bad. Of course pure protien shakes are more effective.

Get a big 'ole canister of the stuff from GNC and it'll last a long time. Probably comes out to under $1.00 a shake at most.
