you know, i use to have a shuttle that i used as a lan box a few years ago, had two 7800gt's in sli, and when it ran, it ran great. sometimes, just to get it to boot, i would have to pull a ram module. i hated that little box. any changes too it i would have to tinker with it and massage it to get it to work right. when it ran, it did fine, but keeping it running was fun.
i think back about that then i hear all these so called pc enthusiast/gamers berating apple products, which i find funny. maybe it's a jealousy thing, i don't know.
i never have a problem with my mac, either one of them, and i use them for quite a lot of things, and i even run vista 64 so i can game, because windows IS great for gaming.
when it comes to production, though, i rely on my mac because it fails to fail when it comes down to it.

i've built my own computers forever and always used windows based machines, now all i can think of when it comes to a windows box is gaming.
when i think of my mac, i think about how stable it is, and how it runs 100% of any software i want to run, and i never have to mess with the registry, or do anything else to keep it running.

either, a lot of people are uninformed, or... just ignorant. i could care less for the advertising aspect of it all, i just go for what will work and what i can trust.
hardware is hardware, regardless of who it is made by. my asus made macbook pro works just fine. my desktop, as well.

my bet is the OP has a dell.

i had a shuttle too, but unlike yours mine was rock solid and i never had any issues with it.

i don't think its a jealousy thing. its because they know macs sell according to hype.

corrupt preferences, grey screen of death, massive memory usage, ntfs/samba issues, just to name a few. every os has its problems. its mostly reliant on user proficiency.

yeah, sometimes. but nothing is perfect. i prefer linux above all for a number of reasons, but even it has its quirks from time to time.

i tried for 10 minutes the other day to format a flash drive to NTFS and it kept hanging (ubuntu 8.10)
stick it in a windows machine and i have the task done in under a minute. never had that problem before, but god damn it was annoying.

however, software management and customization options, as well as ease of installation for all my hardware (and by easy, i mean i never had to do anything to make it work) keeps me from considering any other OS.

that said, every once in a blue moon a kernel update has ruined my sleep mode, and I wanted to stab someone. and stab them a lot.

Here's how you do it. Place your computer in a cardboard box. Tape it up with duct tape. Write BOMB in big unfriendly letters across side of box. Leave box somewhere.

Someone will blow it up for you.

People who buy Macs must defend them to the death, otherwise their 2000 dollar Mac that would have cost them 600 in PC form would be a huge waste of money.

This thread gives me the odd urge to punch Asian woman avatar in the face. Repeatedly. Or maybe it's just blackbox.

..the Nobel prize is actually the dynamite prize. good for blowing up computers.

Alfred Bernhard Nobel (help·info) (Stockholm, 21 October 1833 - Sanremo, Italy, 10 December 1896) was a Swedish chemist, engineer, innovator, armaments manufacturer and the inventor of dynamite. He owned Bofors, a major armaments manufacturer, which he had redirected from its previous role as an iron and steel mill. In his last will, he used his enormous fortune to institute the Nobel Prizes. The synthetic element nobelium was named after him.
