I want this watch so bad but I can't justify it

I want it solely for it's looks. I've always liked the mix of metal and wood, and this hits the perfect balance for me. But that's really all it's got going for it... For $350 I could get a decent Eco drive or something similar. Is there anything else out there that has a similar look that I can't find? Every time I look for wood watches they're almost completely wood, which isn't what I want. The mix of metal and wood is key and I can't find it anywhere else.

I need you to talk to my roommate who is buying a 5k Omega speed master moon watch this month. Been trying to tell him it's gonna be a lot of money! This is nothing I'd buy it right away if I really wanted it. It looks pretty nice. I myself have a few seikos, one skx, a modded Seiko, and an orient black Raven before they stopped making them.

Is it quarts or automatic?

You need to justify it to whom?

BTW I love woodworking and this is a great looking watch. Just trying to see what burl it is.

Myself, and my fiance. $350 isn't chump change, and I have a lot of stuff I want to do to the house that won't be cheap. Getting landscaping done now, then went to get a fence installed before it gets too cold. Plus getting married in October. It fits into the rustic theme of the wedding, but it's still a lot of money. I was thinking of getting this, and then I'd get cheaper wood watches for my groomsmen to keep the theme.

I should also add that I work at a steel mill, and wouldn't really feel comfortable wearing it to work so it'll get limited use.

Given the price I'd imagine it is a quartz watch.

If you think $5k is a lot to spend on a watch you should hang out on the Rolex forums. You can barely get into a SS Rolex for $5k and the gold models go for $20-30k or more. We won't even get into the Pateks or AP watches. :D

I like the Aviator. My biggest concern would be the thickness. 11mm is pretty thick. I'd like to see it in person.

I don't need to hang around on those forums lol because all he does is check out watches all day. My little brother started him off with replica sites then he started collecting bunch of watches.

If anything I'd rather get a nice Hamilton or Omega. Seems like Rolex are the most ones you see reps of and yes the real models are very expensive.

Btw I like the groomsmen idea of the wood watches. A friend of mine went to a wedding last year where he came back with one. Now that OP mentioned that I was wondering if it was his wedding haha.

That's the other thing I'm worried about, it looks like a big honkin watch. The last watch I bought was a Skagen which I liked because it was quite thin... this is the other direction entirely. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I'm hoping I wouldn't find it too heavy.

Man just splurge and get it. Don't overthink it. Once you get it in like a week you won't even think about the $350 you are spending on it. Plus you can wear it in your wedding as you said and you will have those pictures forever looking your best.

I tend to overthink expensive purchases too even though I know I can afford it, but there comes a point I just tell myself "press the damn purchase button you pussy" and I usually will do it all quick. Same thing when I'm buying clothes sometimes at a B&M store, I'll know it's more than I want to spend but I am like "fuck it" and walk to the cashier and buy it. Then a few days later I don't even remember the purchase.

EDIT:

Looks like it's sold out right now too (the Marc one).

I like this one a little better. Is the wood on the bezel protected in anyway? I'd worry about getting it scuffed up. I say go for it man, you only do one wedding(well most people) and I'm sure you want it to be memorable. Better than regretting it one day saying I wish I would have wore such and such for these pictures. I buy stuff all the time when I get stressed. It's kind of an issue I'm working on but like purebeast says, half the time you don't even notice later.

I jumped

Actually I jumped on the 2nd one I posted (the brewmaster) because I found it on another site w/ a coupon code which dropped it to $263. I can live with that.

11mm thick.

Here's a similar watch where the wood is made from whiskey barrels.

I was gojng to give you shit about buying a gay-looking watch, but dammit...both are nice watches. :D

I struggled with dropping almost $800 for a Citizen limited edition eco-drive radio-controlled (connects with the time servers automatically) world time watch a few years ago. Nice watch, but a PITA sometimes. I have to keep a copy of the manual d/l'd on my phone in case I need to make an adjustment.

I also have a MUCH cheaper ($125) and simpler.eco-drive that I wear far more often.

Don't wast your $ on an quartz. I wear a maratac from countycom.com automatic, nice watch with a simple face and a great price. Or an ecodrive. No more batteries for me.

It's a little chunky for my tastes and a bit expensive. Are you sure this purchase is a wise investment?

Too late, he already ordered it.

I wouldn't buy a quartz watch myself. Batteries always seem to be dead when you want to wear it.

I like mechanical watches and clocks. I have a couple key wound clocks and a couple automatic watches, one of which is very accurate. I almost never take it off.

What? You can get 2 tone Datejusts in the mid $3000 range pre-owned. Models 16013 will have plastic crystals, move up to the 16233 for a sapphire crystal.

A $350 quartz (battery) watch? Nope, not for me. I also don't like the half and half style. Now if it was all black metal and with black leather wrist band and automatic, then we need to talk.

I purchased a Seiko automatic for less than $100 from Amazon (on sale) a few weeks ago. The only thing I would change would be the wrist band and I did not like the size of the watch in person, a tad smaller in real life than in the description/pix on the site.

Your style sounds like the polar opposite of mine, which is fine but all black sounds boring to me. I also haven't found a leather band I really like the look of either.
