how far is the nearest ikea? even if it's 100 miles away, take the biggest van/suv you have access to and make a road trip out of it. it's a fun place to shop, even fun for the kids.

I love Ikea. I have to drive 3 hours to Seattle for one though, which sucks. And their shipping is pretty expensive.

A good 10 hours away, on a good day. That's what sucks about being in the Panhandle of FL - there's nothing cool, well, besides gorgeous beach.

certainly ikea here seems to be a magnet for fat, miserable people-good for a laugh but you start anxiously feeling your gut and your mood takes a dive after the initial excitement at seeing 10,000 pieces of overpriced pine furniture wears off...fo me about 10 minutes

I have one close to me.. actually 3 or 4 are within 2 hours or so of where I live.

The one I go to takes 1:30 roughly to get there. I go prob. almost once a month cause of the GF!

I have one about 45 minutes away, and they are building a brand new one about 5 miles from me. I live in the west Chicago burbs.

Quick trip across the GWB on Route 4. I like going there first thing in the morning to have the (good) cheap breakfast before shopping.

There's even an Ikea store in Barcelona now, just outside the airport, IIRC.

Funny you should mention Ikea. I'm in NJ today and stopping at one on the way home. Not for furniture though. Lunch, some kitchen utensils, and some of those mint cookies my wife likes so much. Ikea is a nifty place.
