I want a new vehicle...

I'm not a "car guy," but I want an exceptionally good quality vehicle that is both a joy to drive and extremely reliable.

Factors to influence decision:

  • Vehicle is intended to transport two people; myself and my GF
Must be capable in Canadian winter as this vehicle will be used year-round
    Attractive exterior
Functional, well-designed interior made from top-quality materials
    Comfortable ride and responsive handling
Large cargo space or passenger capacity not a priority
    Leather interior a must
Fuel economy not a major issue
    Insurance not an issue
Not interested in useless bells and whistles such as DVD players
Again, money is no object, but choices must reflect the criteria

Infiniti G35x (AWD) - perfect for the winters in Kanukzistan. If not, the Acura TSX would be a great choice 😉

If you want "extremely reliable" you have no option but to steer clear of Audi, VW, Mercedes, and nearly every other European/American make. Your best bets are Infiniti, Lexus, and Acura.

Apache Longbow helicopter equipped w/ 16 Hellfire missiles?

How about an AC-130 Spectre Gun Ship?

Abrahms M1A1 tank and a 50 cal machine gun?

If money really is no object, Cayenne Turbo for winter, Carrera GT for summer 😛 (OK, so I'm a Porsche fanboy 😱)
For something more reasonable, the Audi S4 sure is a nice car 🙂

I don't like BMW, but my GF does. She doesn't like Mercedes Benz, but I do. I'm leery about Audi. I'm not really a big fan of many SUVs, but I like the G55 AMG, but my GF hates it. She likes the Infinity FX

I like the new Porsche Carrera S. 😀

maybe the new acura RL...awd, nice interior...exterior looks are the only thing you may dislike. i'd put it on your test drive list though.

i second the legacy GT and the G35x, or maybe the acura RL or even a BMW 3-series with AWD. if you don't want leather i'd get a WRX. the FX35/murano is also a nice choice.

*sigh* i wish i could say "money is no object"... :/

but i second the Porsches. they fit the bill for everything.

if you do get a 911 turbo, let us know.

If money is no object, why limit yourself to one vehicle?

There are few that will be as much fun in the winter as they will in the summer - or that will be a blast to drive around town and still be comfortable on a road trip.

I own two vehicles, and if money were no object would happily own three... I'd get an SUV for road trips, a convertible (well, my choice is a Jeep Wrangler) for nice sunny days, and then a sportscar when I feel the need. (I actually had this for a while, but insurance was ridiculous and I've pretty well gotten over the sportscar craze.. right now I have the Jeep as my around town vehicle and the SUV for anytime I end up driving on the interstate, and it's a great combination... aside from the combined miserable gas milage 🙂

Clearly I couldn't recommend buying two new cars. But you can pick up one lightly used, and one brand new, and still save yourself some $ over trying to find the "perfect" vehicle, which will have to be a compromise in any situation.
