I want a hatchback.

My next vehicle will probably be a wagon of some sort.
I like:
Volvo V50/V70
Audi A4 Avant
2006 BMW 325xi

The V70XCs are higher off of the ground and therefore have worse handling. I would absolutely  a new 300hp V70R. 🙂 Especially because the wagons are slightly more aerodynamic and have a higher topspeed then sedans.

Although, sedans are more commonly viewed as potential sports cars and not a Mom's car.

The V70 is a wagon, BTW.

I've driven nothing but hatchbacks and I love their versatility (3 Dodge Shadows, 1 Dodge Daytona, 1 Acura Integra, all hatches)

we had the choice for a mazda 3 hatchback and a mazda 3s regular sedan... and we went for the sedan. i'm not really sure why. i kind of like how it looks, but maybe in the future, we'll be in the market for a hatchback (like when there are babies and children involved).

i hated the station wagon look (borne of nightmares from wagons of the 70's and 80's). 😉 last hatch i owned was an integra. now i am all about 4-door sedans.

edit: hatches never took off b/c this country likes to go big, fat, and straight. that's why the SUV craze took off in the 90's

Wagons own. If I had to pick right now - I would rank the wagons used or new I want in this order:

Audi Avant (A4 1.8T, but I'd take an RS4 😉 )
Volvo V50 T5 AWD
Saab 9-2x / Subaru Impreza WRX Sport Wagon

Ones that are sweet but a tad out of the price ballpark, at least new:
Mercedes-Benz C240 4Matic
BMW 325xi

Not a big fan of the Ford Freestyle. Freestyle's ride height and stance looks exactly like an Explorer with a raked font end and different head lights. Meh.

Not sure if you noticed, but that's a full size spare, four 5 gallon buckets, full sized boom box, hand held blower, small tool box, large duffle bag, and drywall tools with plenty of room to spare! 22.3 cu. ft total.

OK, you win 😛

We love our mazda 3. We can pull the "hatch" up, and fold the seats down and use it for

1) hauling big items, lawn mower, some appliances

2) lots of boxes when we move

3) Sleeping

4) Drive in theaters 🙂

You can just fit SO much more in a small car if it has rear access and foldable seats.... almost makes me not want a truck (almost)

We went for the hatch with just my wife and I.... so useful for carrying stuff around if you dont have a bigger vehicle...

I've been eyeing a Mazda 3 hatchback too... and there's a sweet one that i particular want (dark orange... love the color), but it's an automatic, and i'm looking for a manual tranny.

I own a hatchback (2005 RSX-S), and my last car was also a hatch (1998 Civic DX). I love hatchbacks, but my next car will likely be a regular coupe (hope to get a 330ci in 2007/2008).

But for now, go hatchbacks!!

Dangit, beat me to the response. The Mazda6 5-door is definately what a hatchback should be.

By the way, I say this as I own one myself.
