Hay guyz, since we are all dezi h3re I gotz me a problem with a fine dezi ch1ck. See she goes to the same college I do, and we are madly in love togather. But see, her dad is a really big smuggler in the whole country who killed my dad 30 years ago, and I have been smooching off of my older brother and sis in law. It's cool, I mean he is an honest police officer, and I am poor, but I can still afford nice clothes and shoes. But the problem is that my girl's dad has kidnapped my sis in law and wants to kill us all now.

So what should I do? Sing some more songs, and show up for the final showdown where I will take on the whole mafia, beating the crap out of 100+ people and in the end my sis in law will throw herself infront of my to protect me from a bullet, or should I just dump her?
HAHAHQHHAHAHHAH

good job <3

The only thing missing is the appearance of his long lost twin brother who was separated at birth.

Who also feels pain when his twin brother is in pain. They were seperated by his evil uncle who wanted to take over the whole estate. One of them turned out to be a total dumbass, while the other one is a street smart punk. Lord knows the comedy that is about to happen when they get switched!

And then they are magically transported to a meadow and begin to dance...
*cue music*

synchronized dancing!

You guys should watch: Company, Aab Tak Chappan, Samay, and this other movie that I forgot..it's new with Saif Ali Khan and Urmila. Very nice movies, totally different from typical indian movies. Watch them with an open mind.

And about htis whole desi topic, nothing wrong to be proud of being Indian...I know I am. But if someone else isn't, leave them be..don't force it on them cause you'll just make go farther away from it.

No I am being for real. I saw it, it was a gangsta/mafia movie. Straight to the point, none of that songs in the meadow and other cliche stuff.

You hate the term Desi because you hate the fact that you you are Indian. I've read your posts, man, and can read you a mile away. I used to be the same way to a certain extent, trying so hard to align myself with white people, dropping my claims to membership, just like the "all my friends are cute punk rock girls" or "all my friends are white". Grow up, bro. You ARE indian, you are a brownie, you are dark, you are and always will be, and are percieved as such by everyone around you. Perhaps its the catholic upbringing that planted the seeds of self-loathing, since this self-hatred is very, very common among easterners that belong to western faiths. Learn to love your color and heritage, because noone else will do it for you, and even if you can snag some white girl to marry, you'll be sorely reminded of how very indian you are down the road. Being indian is wonderful, don't forget it.

Rant off.

Amen to that.

I'm sorry if I was harsh on Freedomsbeat, especially after he offered to invite me. For that I'm sorry, Freedoms. However, what I said above was in response to what I've noticed about you. I'm a born and bread American, and am very Americanized in many ways. It was a difficult time growing up - I (and you, depending on how old you are) didn't have the public's empathy for all things Indian. There weren't any "Bindhi kits" in Border's back when I was a kid. In those days, I actually preferred invisibility as a minority to the sometimes negative feedback that I got. But, now is the time, bro. It's easier than ever to step out of your self-loathing and embrace being an indian. Stop with the endless efforts to try and craft yourself into something palatable by the white mainstream. They are good people, indeed, but you are NOT one of them. You stand to gain more from educating them about your culture, showing them and standing as an example of how much good exists in our Indian culture, rather than trying to hide it, or wipe it under the carpet. Respect is not gained by overt self-loathing, and if you are ever like the kids I knew, you are quick to put down your own in front of them.

Let me guess:
1. You just don't find indian girls attractive
2. You hate the term Desi" (oh wait, you already said that)
3. You hate indian music
4. You don't like to speak in Hind, Telegu, or whatever your mothertongue is, in public.
5. You get embarrased when you see another Indian "behaving" Indian.

You sure as hell write a lot.. But i'll reply to your questions:
1. No, too much damn facial hair
2. Yes, because it's misused..
3. I love classical indian music and pakistani music but just like I listen to Turkish music and world music in general.. Classical indian culture is fascinating to me... It's modern culture that bothers me..
4. I don't know how to speak Tamil... Why would need to, we're in the U.S. not Madras?
5. Eh, I ignore the parents who beat their kids in public or the guys who walk around in slippers and dresses...

Oh, and I love indian food and Satyajit Ray and Santosh Sivan are two of my favorite filmmakers..

bahahahaha, too bad all the white girls only want you as a friend. I think you have a little syndrom of sour grapes since none of the desi chicks want you.

proof of your lameness

The reason we use the term desi is because it includes all members of the subcontinent and not only Indians.

Absolutely. It's just that some choose one over the other based on a complex. But in reality, who someone is, isn't purely a choice of one's own. Perception, my friend, is as defining as behavior. If you don't believe me, put down "white" on your next job application - after all, its your choice, isn't it?

Doesn't that mean that you are choosing your alignment based on a complex? BTW, what kind of job application asks for race?

In any case, did you read his paper? He has valid reasons for his opinions and choices. Don't be so narrowminded as to not consider that someone else's life and background is not the same as yours (there's another stereotype used to describe Indians).

Before you try to give me some of your propaganda calling me a poseur etc., I'll have you know that I lived in India for 9 years. They weren't early years either, I went to high school and college there. I love that country and the time I spent there. I go back every year and I am connected with my friends there. You should understand that most educated people in India have a less narrow viewpoint than yours. I have learned so much from the people I have met in India, and I have so much respect for these people.

One thing that would help India and Indians more than anything else would be to learn how to effectively take constructive criticism. Since every "self-respecting" Indian loves to go around thinking that India is the best place in the world and that Indians are perfect they fail to discuss their faults and they fail to improve. I think there are great things that both cultures can learn from the other.

So from this thread and Freedomsbeats other posts I have gathered that he hates the fact that he isn't some white guy, and is hopelessly inept in getting the white chicks that he so desires.

You know, instead of denying your heritage...why not try to improve it's image?

I don't think one should deny their roots..if you don't like the image that it portrays why not work towards changing it for the better?

Why the fixation on "white chicks"?

Because they have pink, fuzz free lips.
