Insane3d, IIRC, the torque numbers are the same...300/320 ft/lb...

While they have little torque from 1-2.5k(probably around 200ft/lb), they instantly go up when the turbos kick.

But they still 'feel' so freakin' heavy.

At best they are straight line cars.

I don't think your source is accurate. I'm pretty confident a twin turbo v6 will make more torque then my turbo 2.0 does stock (my Eclipse made 220ft/lbs, if I remember right). Over 300ft/lbs at low RPM's isn't bad. Looks to me they typoed a '2' instead of a '3'.

I have a friend who had 2 3000GT's. Between the 2 cars (first one was totaled when he hit a tree) he put in over $10,000 in repairs. 3000GT's suck and Mitsu's QC really sucks.

Yeah..looks like it's up near 300. Still, the 5.0 stangs in stock trim with 225hp put out around 300ft/lbs...

Silent, while they may not be as light as say a DSM, there are more and more breaking into 10's, and probably in under a year we will see some 9 second ones as well.

Sad thing is that the majority of the cars are owned by younger people, or people who do not have the money to sink into it to make it even faster.

Insane3d: There are quite a few stock vr4's that break into the 13's.

Although they may all not be confirmed, some are. There are also a host more on the 3si site, but their database is gayed.

Edit: Infested, you are not even worht talking to. There arent many other cars out there at the price of a 3000gt that can even compare to the speed of it.

A fully modded vr4 - Say, front mount intercooler, twin 16g's(evo3's), supporting mods, and everything, can put out well over 700 horsepower. We expect 1000horsepower on a few of them sometime in the coming year or so as networked knowledge grows.
Btw, that car is ray pampena's, as well as quite a few others that are starting to tune and turn up the boost on their 16g's.

1000 crank hp on that aw-driveline? that's more like 500 awhp. I have to admit that these cars CAN make crazy power and have the potential to become track monsters (once you shave off 1/4 of its weight). And those who think the vr4 handles well as of stock, you have no clue what is a good handling car.

Your just being ignorant about the MAJOR flaws of that car. Sure a vr4 is cheap, how much money do you need to spend to fix its problems? i've seen numerous vr4s and non-vr4s in my friend's shop and other shops around town, and i can't stop hearing those owners talking about what a POS that car is.

Say you spend about 10 grand on a vr4 (last one i saw on autotrader) and you probably need to spend about 5 grand to fix it = 15 grand for the car. For 15 grand, you can get a SVT cobra used, and still have enough money for a few bolt-on mods. A cheap FD, used wrx, or even a 240sx w/ sr20det swap and a turbo kit will be well within the 18 grand budget and STILL be faster than that vr4. Heck you can even look for a mr2 turbo and aim for 400 rwhp.

Plus it weights 4000 lbs; good game, even some american muscle weighs less than that. Ok maybe if you have 500 awhp then it's acceptable, but how much money are you gonna spend on the vr4 to get there?

And not to talk about the handling - that thing handles like a dinosour. I used to thought that the z32(300zx) handled poorly until i drove a vr4. Sure it can perform better than the z32 on the skipad, but 3kgt doesn't feel nimble AT ALL.

Brakes - not so responsive, but enough to stop this 4000 lbs POS.

Inspector: what i'm trying to say is, for the same amount of money, you can get a sportscar that is more reliable and fun to drive than a 3000gt. Practically any other sportscar will give you the power you need. Also, don't expect to buy a 3000gt and just call it a day - problems after problems will come back and bite you very hard, and you may end up spending MORE money than getting an used evo and call it a day.

And honestly, this car doesn't bring sex appeal - even the ladies know this car is a POS.

The choice is yours: to learn it the easy way, or the hard way?

edit: deadlyapp, if i'm not worthy enough to talk to, why are you talking to me? at least i'm talking about how unworthy a 3000gt really is.
