When looking at Southern California, just note that the cost of living mary vary greatly depending on what city you are living in (even if they are right next to each other.) Examples = La Jolla/San Diego, Newport Beach/Irvine, etc.

I wa sthinking of moving to Phoenix a few months ago. I went to visit some friends there to check it out and it's interesting. It hit 110 degrees while I was there and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The cost of living is dirt cheap and even the center of town feels like suburbia. Cons are that it's chock full of apartment communities and cookie cutter homes.

If I ever could bring myself to leave the San Francisco Bay area I would go to Phoenix, San Diego, Hawaii, or maybe Miami.

BTW I am from Ohio too.

Well, since you're in Ohio, I shouldn't have to tell you, but I will.

Stay away from Indiana. I hate this place, with the exception of the small group of cool people that I interact with everyday. The people here at work are friendly. It's when you leave the building that they turn evil.

I'd kill to get a decent job in Shreveport, Baton Rouge, or New Orleans LA, Biloxi MS, Mobile AL, or Pensacola FL.

:sigh:

If you want a nice place to raise a family check out Coral Springs, FL. Very clean and safe city....

Its a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale (15-20mins away), and is like 45 mins from Miami.

The beach is only 10-15 minutes away depending on how fast you drive...

I moved there when i was 10 and I love it there, i could seriously spend the rest of my life in that area. I love South Florida! 🙂

well if you want a fast-paced life, ain't no better place than NYC.

i would NEVER live anywhere else other than NYC. I think that other places would be too slow for me.

Everything is here! come on down!

Agreed. There's nowhere live NYC. Every style of living is available here, high rise apartments, 3 story brownstones, townhouses, small houses still in the city, huge places in the burbs... just pick what you like and NYC's got it. Sure real estate is expensive, but salaries are high here. Best restaurants in the world, best museums in the country, shows, culture, clubs, (culture club), parks, decent weather, and awesome people.

Only other place that I would consider living in is Northern Cali.

New York City.

Hands down the greatest place on this planet, unless you're a farmer or something.

Isn't that where the Broward County Seven are from?

NYC. High rents, crappy weather, crime, pollution, and the really good chance of getting nuked in the next 10 years. We still love it!

If your referring to the hijackers, yes. 2 of them i know lived there, not sure about the others. My mom actually remembered Mohammed Atta coming into her office looking for an apartment months before the attack. That shouldnt effect anyone decision about the area, its still a fantastic place to live.

SoCal. Weather is awesome (sure it gets hot but there is no humidity) and lots of things to do (museums, pro sports, nightspots, etc.).

Central Ohio. I feel your pain. I'm in western PA right now and can't wait to go back home to Cali for thanksgiving.

SW Florida is pretty nice too.
Fort Myers, Cape Coral -- Naples on or near the Gulf is a nice area.

Nope I am talking about the Broward County Seven that all took place in a murder of their friend. Happened in 1992 I believe. Search ImDB for "Bully". Bully is the movie about the murder.

I'm living in Austin and have been here since Feb. - it's a nice city. Only annoying thing is traffic but you pretty much get that everywhere.

I visted austin a bunch when my gf use to stay there.. I hated that one freeway that has such a short distance when getting on. It was like right when you got on, you were on the freeway going 35mph when everyone was going 75mph.

Im not sure if this is right but I heard the man who designed the freeway commited suicide b/c so many died on it b/c of his stupid design.

lower deck of 35? yeah, the ramps were short, they were completely rebuilt last year though. much better.

as for traffic, have you been to houston, mani? the traffic in austin is light in comparison (much as everyone around here likes to bitch about it)

i remember the way the lower deck used to be. that took skill to merge. a car with good acceleration was a must 😀

I am a fan of Hawaii personally. Its expensive to live in and to move to, but the weather is great and you can live in really small town or the big city if you like that.
