1) It's not even inline with the wheels, how can it be an axle component? It's a good 3-4 feet from the pumpkin to the rear bumper
2) The rear end be it solid or IRS in those cars is obscured by the fuel tank and exhaust system; it's not really visible unless you are 10 feet back and have your ear on the ground.
3) All RWD cars have pumpkins, not just those with solid axles.
Not surprised someone throwing around words like "rustang" doens't even have basic common sense on cars. 🙂
Looking at it closer, I too see what appears to be red fittings at the ends. He ditched the returnless system for a sumped tank and external fuel pump. Definitely packing something, that's not a mod you do for style or any other tangible benefit other than because you have to in order to support some power.
1. what i'm looking at could be fairly inline at the angle the picture was taken. i don't really see much under the car except for shadow.
2. not necessarily. i've seen a number of SRA vehicles where the bottom of the pumpkin is quite visible.
3. the pumpkin on a vehicle with IRS is typically much higher than one with a solid axle and doesn't give the same "pumpkin" effect.
and i say "rustang" because i make fun of all fords and mustangs for a long time were rather terrible cars. i grew up around corvettes and chevelles, so i'm a chevy guy. although, i do applaud ford for not taking the federal bailout money. my next truck will be a ford unless i can get a steal on one of the new coil sprung dodges.
