I think I'm supposed to make some stupid comment saying "it could be worse" but those comments never really help, so all I can say is that yeah, it sucks. Hope it gets recovered intact.

Once, I let my roommate borrow my '87 IROC for the evening. In the morning we got up to go to work and went outside where he street-parked the car. We looked around and didn't see it. We thought maybe he forgot that he parked around the side, so we took a stroll to the corner... no car. I didn't have insurance.
I proceeded directly inside and called the cops and filed a police report. Four months later I get a call from a tow company, saying they found my car. When I get there, it is missing the interior, and trany only. They tell me it will cost about $2500 to get it out of impound, or they would keep the car (they were sitting on it for about 3 weeks to drive up the cost I am sure).
I told them I would be back with a check. I never returned. Lesson learned: Don't drive a Chevy... oh, and always have insurance.

The worst part is he's now making payments (credit card) on upgrades that were stolen.
Something you might check, some CC's give you extended warranty/theft protection/damage protection...

ouch.....you can hope its just a bunch of punks taking your car for a joy ride. That's what happened to my pops car, it showed up a few days later. But with that much power....sucks man
