Again, I will say that our cats have never caused problems (by that I mean we've never had any complaints from any of our neighbors about our cats when I was living at home) so this is why I don't understand the Nazi mentality about cats being kept indoors. I find pigeons annoying but I don't shoot them when they land on the bird bath outside.

How can you possibly equate cats with humans? Your CAT is an "equal citizen" to my son/daughter? Under which rock on what farm in West Virginia were you raised? It's weirdo PETA people like you that make today's world a dangerous place. Obviously, human interaction scares you a bit and you feel just a bit more comfy with your four-legged friends.

Of course I do, but I don't understand people going out of their way to harm an animal that hasn't harmed them. Fact of the matter is many people become very close to their animals, especially older people.

To everyone making all the PETA cracks, give me a break. I'm glad you're making yourself feel like a badass on the intarweb but I don't buy into that garbage at all. I eat my meat and I enjoy it. Well, not right now, because I've got 4 gaping holes in my mouth, but normally I do. As I said above I just don't get how people feel it necessary to go out of their way to harm an animal. If you understand that they're far below us in terms of intelligence (which one of you made a cute little species-line down below) then why does it bother you so much when one of them does "something stupid" by walking on your property?

Edit: For the same PETA Pete guy, my question to you is how does my logic make the world a more dangerous place? As I stated above I in no way support PETA by any means, it's probably 99.9% propaganda anyway, but I'm curious as to how this is making the world a more dangerous place.

I had one that disappeared for almost two weeks, then just showed up one morning at the back door.

I see people complaining about leaving cats outside.
In a rural area , its very very common.
Nothing wrong with it.
The cats are happy and often they stay in the back yard, or in the woods behind the house.
They aren't like dogs and really do stay close to home all on their own.

1) very common <> right.
2) Very few areas are truly rural...most have motor vehicles, cats like to sleep next to tires and in engine compartments.
3) A toddler loves it outside too...
4) Some dogs stay close to home, some cats roam. All bets are off should they sense another in heat.
5) When working for a vet, many of the outdoor animals we treated were riddled with BB's. Not something I'd want my animal to be subjected too.
6) Many people seek out small animals like cats or dogs to harm. Esp around halloween.

We have a house here that has a 'free cat/cats' every week. I have called about it as I have seen they have traps set up. Not much they can do about it without proof. I keep my animals inside, we actually will take our cats out on a harness and let them roam around the backyard. They enjoy that.

The previous owners had two outdoor cats and two indoor cats. We get a lot of strays in the yard from time to time and they don't cause any problems and give my cats something to watch during the day.

Maybe your neighbor got tired of your cat being on his property. He should just call animal control and have them trap it and then claim he has no idea who owns it (may be true, and it may be animal controls trap in his yard), or just sign a complaint aginst you for you letting your pets run at large.

NOT ONE of the local shelters will take a stray cat. i have called them. a idiot down the street lets his cats out and pays them no attention. The cats think my garage is a great place to shit/live/give birth. I have found dead rabbits, mice, rats and baby kittens from them. My van and my wifes car have claw marks on it from the cats climbing on the vehicles.

the guy had the attitude many here do. they are outdoor creatures and derserve to run wild. once the shelters said they wouldnt do anything about it i captured them. i have taken it 5, then 10 then 20 fucking miles away and it still comes back. havent seen it all winter but i told him next i see it trying to get in my garage i will kill it.


if you want a cat great! they are good pets. BUT KEEP IT INDOORS.
