Basically, she's a bitch. 22 years old, for reference. However, she has other qualities that make it seem like it's not just regular young girl bitchiness.
She can't seem to tell what emotion people are displaying. For instance, my girlfriend was saying how it's going to suck paying the cable bill this summer when it's only her and my sister here (we all live together), after my sister brought it up. She said this in a sad way, not an angry way. My sister shoots back with "Well, last summer I had to pay it all by myself, so I don't feel bad for anybody."
She also has never seemed to care how anyone else is feeling, just how she feels. Then again, that's fairly common...
That alone wouldn't be all that bad, but when combined with her speech..well, in short, she yells. All the time. She can't seem to control her voice - so much so that it wakes me up if she talks to someone in the house. I've complained to her about it many times, and of course she didn't seem to care, but she also mentioned to a roommate once that she doesn't realize she's talking that loud.
Also, taken directly from wikipedia..."Unlike those with autism, people with AS are not usually withdrawn around others; they approach others, even if awkwardly, for example by engaging in a one-sided, long-winded speech about a favorite topic while being oblivious to the listener's feelings or reactions, such as signs of boredom or haste to leave."
That pretty much describes her. She can talk for an hour about something that could be said in one minute, literally saying the same sentences over and over again. She also takes absolutely NO clues that somebody doesn't want to listen to her anymore. Never looking at her, not even saying "mhmm" back, and turning up the volume on the TV...none of it works, even combined. I've never, ever gotten out of a conversation from her unless I either walked away or a friend called.
Depression runs in our family.
So, ATHF, what say ye? Am I right? Or is it something else.
