I had better speeds than that in the 90s. The 1890s.
Anyone here doubting that Windstream both sucks and blows should just head on over to their forum on dslreports.com.
I have speeds about that fast over the phone. When I am verbally reciting the binary to a person on the other end writing it down.
Also, for home phone if you are not using OOMA you are doing it wrong. Get OOMA and a real ISP and live life better!
I'm visiting my parents right now and they are on windstream DSL. Boy howdy does it suck.
The first night something must have been up on their end since we were getting like 200-300ms ping and only 1.5mb down. Today, speeds are more normal at 20-30ms and 5.5-6.0 mbps down.
However, now the problem is some sites don't even load, and on facebook, most images aren't loading. I don't know what the problem is. I've rebooted modem/router multiple times.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can possibly fix this on my end?
I'll have to agree that Windstream sucks. My grandmother had a dsl modem through them. It stopped working, they said to replace it would be $75, she said fine. They then sent her a dsl modem and charged her $150 instead on her bill, saying they didn't have anymore of the $75 ones so they had to charge her $150.
Shitty tactic on Windstream's part, but to be honest, you (assuming that you're more tech-savvy than her) could've got her a used modem on ebay or something for cheap. Windstream doesn't require anything proprietary on their modems (they may ship with something funky these days, but they don't require it, if you can find the details of your PPPoE connection either from the old modem or somebody with the same service.)
You sure something isn't just messed up on your end? Try plugging right in, rather than a router? My router goes nuts and slows way down all the time and needs a reboot.
