Damnit you're not even Cantonese, stop being a poser. It's just nasty how it stinks up the whole place. Maybe I should cook some of that stinky tofu.

IT smells like sh!t and it's not even that good. IF it were that good you would see it used in every Chinese dish. Oyster sauce >>> Fish sauce without the crap smell.

What about Thai and Vietnamese food? It's used pretty extensively in those cuisines.

And it is that good!

fish sauce isn't supposed to smell like fish. if it does, then it's either bad or sh!tty quality.

Fishe Sauce is great.

Also it isn't used much by Chinese. It is more of South East Asian thing.

That's true.

BTW, fish sause is not just used by cantonese people (I am one)... I think viet use it more actually.

it actually is. My co-worker went to a Fish sauce factory in Thailand and you do not want to know what's going on there.
