I think i just found the most realistic 3D rock render I've ever laid eyes on.

Are rock graphics the new craze?

"Dude this game I just played has some jaw-dropping rock graphics! YOU GOTTA SEE THESE ROCKS!"

the tank looks better than the rocks, still not very realistic.
then again, we used to think Oblivion was the best it could get back in 2006 in terms of environment.

the nVidia 8 series "solved" the Oblivion performance problem. at that time it was THE benchmark for hardware. i wonder what will do that to Crysis.

would it be nVidia's Fermi? ATI's next gen 6 series? only time will tell.

2 ati 4850s in crossfire solve the problem. i'm sure some of the newer cards in single config work just as well.

I ran crysis at max settings at 1680x1050 on my system and i was getting like 80 FPS or more.

nice but not perfect.
Ambient occlusion missing, specular lighting applied incorrectly, diffuse out of balance, caustics all but missing, GI inaccurate.

Game engines use a lot of tricks and unfortunately that leads to a lot of errors in the final output.

lol.. and to think we used to play games like this:
