Rat is a term cheaters use to try to drop the self esteem of those who do not cheat, in an attempt to discourage them from getting the cheater kicked out. Lies and deception, the lowest of the low.

As to the OP, I do not think you have any grounds for notifiying the prof. Going to a prof now will cause more problems than it solves. Just watch and be patient. It is possible that he is cheating, but it is also possible he is not.

Hearsy (sp) is something that will get you looked down on more than them. It's too late to prove it.

Just take comfort in the fact that someday this guy will get fired from a job because he can't do college-level work.

Lots of people cheat in college and never get caught. The thing is, you're paying for your education, so while you are there, worry about getting an education. Don't worry about other people paying for an education they aren't getting.

Don't you know a CRAP load of people cheat in college. It just depends on what you cheat on and how...
I know I cheated, but it was on the easiest excel programing I have seen.
The professor gave us this sheet with step by step instructions to create graphs and forumlas. I waited till the last minute and got my friend's program.
Lo and behold over 50% of ECGR XXXX cheated so they had to check everyones' program. Apparently a ton of people copied one guy's program.

Anyways I believe my cheating was wayyy below the level of hiring someone to take a test for you, cheating on "real" homework, or cheating on a test or quiz.

Just last week some dude beside me cheated 100% off of my test. It annoyed me like hell so I got a 60. And so did he...
The professor was just reading a newspaper the whole freaking time...

You have nothing to report, for you didn't see anything, so don't waste your time. If you had hard evidence I would certainly adivse turning his funky ass in, but alas you have nothing.

That's it embarrass the prof by saying he can't tell the difference between (race/colour/headgear/any form of dress) people.

wtf? Do you realize how many students a college prof will see in one day? This isn't HS where you see them everyday and get to know each one of them by name. This was the most retarded post

That all depends.

I go to a small college, where no course is allowed to have over 35 people.

Look up what hearsay is.

If the class is graded on a curve and/or the prof. changes grades based on a couple high scores then yea trun him in. If not then why care???

I remember a music class that had a good 100 people in it. I would safely say a good half or more cheated in that class. But since it was not graded on a curve, I didn't care as it did not affect me.

I have decided to not do anything. There is no way he is going to cut it in computer engineering anyways (the degree program he wants to be in).

That's right. I didn't see anything. In fact, I did not see him anywhere in that room the day of the exam, and I looked everywhere.

years later

Boss: program this
guy who cheated: uh okay
Boss: are you done?
guy who cheated: no i cant do it
Boss: youre fired

Rat is a term that people with enough respect for others use to denote those without. Mind your own damn business.

I know a guy in one of my C.S. classes and I think he cheated on the last exam by having someone else take it for him. This is a big class of 100+ and the prof did not check IDs.

Right before the exam I looked all around the room and I did not see him. Then I found out that he got a 95/100. This exam was a pretty tough exam and I know this guy, he doesn't do that well and has not done that well on past exams. In this particular class he got like a 54 on the first midterm, and in other C.S. class prior to this one he barely passed.

Anyways, I'm not 100% sure he cheated, I'm just suspicious. The question is, should I report it to the prof.?

Report him.

He will be going to jail for life!

yeah.. i agree

but unless u wanna get beat up afterschool by him.. then no lol i,m jp
but since u have no real proof ...
