I think a guy I know cheated in one of my C.S. classes

Umm why were you looking all over the place for this guy? Sounds pretty sketchy to me.

I wasn't 'looking all over the place for him.' I happen to know him and when we were about the take the exam I noticed he wasn't in his usual spot, so I carefully looked around the room to see where he was seated and didn't see him anywhere.

you need a G/F..

or a boyfriend  lol

OP should mind his own business. stop treating others with malice.

Malice? Pah-lese.

Cheating is dishonest, low, dirty and shameful. So yes, I do have malice for cheaters.

This reminds me of the time that a kid in my Algorithms class put a programming assignment on rentacoder.com. Somehow the professor found out, contacted the web site, and found out who did it. I'm not sure if the kid got an F in the class or just the assignment but still, that was quite a dumb move.

Just last week some dude beside me cheated 100% off of my test. It annoyed me like hell so I got a 60. And so did he...
The professor was just reading a newspaper the whole freaking time...

Wow, you're just about the biggest chump I've ever seen. Instead of not letting him cheat off of you, you get a D?

Yeah, he got a D instead of simply moving chairs? WTF?

If you have to ask this question, you shouldn't.

Either have enough conviction and balls to go ahead and turn him into the professor on your own, or don't do anything at all.

No one likes a rat.

Rat is a term cheaters use to try to drop the self esteem of those who do not cheat, in an attempt to discourage them from getting the cheater kicked out. Lies and deception, the lowest of the low.
Rat is a term that people with enough respect for others use to denote those without. Mind your own damn business.

When people cheat so often that it has the entire school suspecting everyone of cheating, then it is affecting people other than the cheaters. That makes it my business. I don't want to be looked at as, nor compared to some scrawny pathetic child who has nothing better to do than waste a professor's time.

Respect is not given, it is earned.

Leave him alone..
Do not snitch.. Nothing worse than a snitch..
Honest person > Cheater > Snitch = rapist

Maybe he was sick that day and had to come in to take the test at a different time?

As far as cheating goes...I cheated in at least 50% of my classes in undergrad. Now that I am in grad school, and taking classes that intrest me, I have yet to cheat and will not.

P.S. Most of that 50% cheating was in four Spanish classes. I had no intention of memorizing all of that CRAP! Ghey!

Why would you rat out your friend? Even if its not your friend do you really want to be that guy? Nobody likes that guy, your mom hats that guy... don't become that guy.

i have a hard time believing the school would act on the facts of the OP itself. they would need more than, hmmm, AFAIK, among the 100 students in class today to take the test, i don't remember seeing him.

ya, that's a firm basis for accusing someone of cheating.

It's CS, if he can't pull his weight in a job it will be blatently obvious.
Let him cheat and then fail on his own in the real world.
