One thing that occurred to me is that if the questions are multiple choice questions the kid could just spam random answers and still get paid and not try to get the answers right.

So I'm going to try to make it were you have to enter in the answer instead of pressing a choice for answers.

Easy solution: each correct answer gives you one minute of screentime on wifi. Wanna play Minecraft for half an hour? 30 math problems!

No topology? Boo.

Seriously though, "How to Ace Calculus: The Streetwise Guide" and "The Cartoon Guide to Statistics" are great books for learning. "Calculus Made Easy" by Thompson is also great, but it's very old, so you need to expect a much different tone from modern learning materials.

Some people just don't like math, and aren't particularly good at it. What got me to learn math was needing to use math. I learned enough to perform the tasks I needed to accomplish, and not a bit more. The need for math made it interesting. Once you get beyond the basics, most people can get through life with a gradeschool education. Would higher math be occasionally useful? Yes, but it'll be long forgotten when it's needed because it's only occasionally useful.

Me, who doesn't like math, isn't good at math, and remembers zero algebra(the highest math I took in school). I do know the trig I need to know, and I learned that by myself. I'm way closer to death than birth, and I made it through life fine.

Here is me reading the wiki about geometry, my construction classes has a lot of geometry in it.

I can't think of any geometry a common construction guy would need aside from solving triangles. Figuring quantities would be useful, but that'll be outside your pay grade for a decade or more.

You need to use that voice to narrate audiobooks!

I think it'll be a good idea to have your kid "cycle" between a calculator and without a calculator.

Like:

Monday- calculator
Tuesday- without calculator
Wendsday- calculator
Thursday- without calculator

I forgot to mention that this also applies to math textbooks as well.

If the textbook is multiple choice the kid can just bubble in any answer and still get paid by chance, but you can't really do that when it's NOT multiple choice.

Today in math class we were working on points, lines, and line segments.

So I recorded a video of each topic.

Back to the original idea I think Gizmo may be on to something. The only kids that will think solving math problems for a penny or a nickel each is a good deal will be the ones that can’t do math.

And then if they eventually become good enough at math that they figure it out it’s not worth their time… you’ve already won at that point!

You guys claim that a nickel is not enough, but none of you will say how much you think is fair...

WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND!?

I already gave my recommendation based on years of not being a moron, and actually having kids. If you want validation, use the sycophant version of chatgpt. What was that; 3.5? I'm sure it'll tell you your idea's amazing and insightful, and since it's ai, we know it can't be wrong.

You said they should get paid minimum wage per hour, the problem with that is the kid wouldn't have to work hard to get paid, the kid could just spend the whole time daydreaming or writing in random answers.

chatgpt will tell you what you want to hear. If it doesn't, change the query til it does.
