And bitching about it on an internet forum is any less dorky?
Some people get their rocks off watching baseball on TV. For 180 FSCKING GAMES WORTH OF A SEASON. I'd rather slam my junk in a sliding door than watch it. Or play D&D.
Baseball > D&D
Baseball players get laid...by women!
D&D players get laid by... ???

I clicked on this thread and I read and it was as ridiculous as I thought. What a miserable and utter waste of time.

Dungeons and Dragons can be a ton of fun if you play with a good group of people, the stigma prevents a lot of people from trying it though. Ultimatelys it's just a big social game that 9/10 of the time ends in laughter and a general good time.

No kidding. You either have the satan worshipping goat slayers that the media made D&D players out to be in the 80's and early 90's. Or you have the "lightning bolt!" end of things that the internet made it out to be. And then you have the "I'm wearing boots of escaping!" skit on Reno 911 that doesn't help the hobby out either
For most D&D players, it's really no different than a group of guys getting together for a night of texas hold 'em. You sit around a table. You smoke cigarettes. You drink some beer. You shoot the sh!t. Instead of pulling cards from a deck, you throw dice.
