I still don't get why everyone hates Battlefield Earth.

Cheesy B-rated campy movies can be fun. However there is indeed some line where a movie is just too bad to be fun. Battlefield Earth is one of those movies, it was just plain bad with no redeeming qualities.
 
I agree with the OP. I have seen it and thought it was enjoyable. So what if there is all the Trovota Scientology stuff. It's the same when I watched Chronicles of Narnia. I didn't knock it for it's Christian undertones. I watched it for what it was, a movie that sucked. In the case of Battlefield Earth, a good sci-fi flick.

Surprising that you think Travolta was miscast since I think he was a major producer of the film.

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to say, but I hope it's not that producers should act in their own movies.
