You should have just gone inside and talked to the manager. If you give up quickly they will think you *were* just trying to scam them. But if you went inside and kept arguing I bet you would have gotten your food. The other suggestion to talk to corporate is a good idea. You have a valid complaint and will probably get money/GC/coupons back. Its definitely not worth taking them to court though.
