If you haven't gone when the light turns green your making it so folks behind you are likely going to have to run the light because you held them up. (Playing Devils Advocate).

it happens ALL the time here in atlanta (specifically barrett parkway in kennesaw).
I actually pay attention.. and when they light turns yellow I pop the clutch out a bit (making my car jump forward) right as THEIR light turns red (like I'm entering the intersection) and more than once I've scared the sh!t out of some dumbarse women on a cellphone in her volvo who is running the redlight to pick up her redheaded annoying little brat of a kid

I probably would've gotten hit today if I didn't hesitate. I saw the lights and had to look at it twice before I went...and then I saw a car cross me.
And another incident... I was probably going 50MPH and the light in front of me turned green, so I never had to slow down... and then I saw a car cross me...
Just a few months ago, a motorcyclist got killed because a teacher ran a red light because he was late for work.

This only happens rarely in the area that I live in.

Oh yea, I know it's everywhere. But cuz I'm in SD, I'm complaining (or ranting) specifically about this area.
The potholes here are bad, too.
I'm usually on my bike, so I just store up a nice gooey loogie for the windshield of anyone who flagrantly runs the light I'm waiting on.Originally posted by: armatron

In places without a left turn signal (Read: Chicago) the only chance left turners have to clear the intersection is after oncoming traffic has stopped for the red light. If two left turners are in the intersection when the light turns yellow and oncoming traffic doesn't stop until the light is red, they are still in the intersection when the light turns green going the other way. It can take then 2-3 seconds to clear the intersection. Even though they have the green those people have to wait.
Sometimes you just have to deal with other people on the road.
hopefully a big yellow one right in their line of view :thumbsup:Originally posted by: Fausto

You haven't seen potholes until you've lived in NY. Potholes are nothing here in San Diego.
