Exhibit A:
Black Honda Prelude (probably a 1999 or 2000) with a spoiler (moderately sized- perhaps even stock!) a new muffler with two exhaust pipes...two large exhaust pipes coming out of it that is to say- oh, shiny of course. Chrome rims, and two stickers on the trunk (nicely sized, perhaps he actually has these things and they aren't just for show?!) that say VTEC and DOHC.

That one was weak and just barely a riceburner by virtue of the exhaust.

Exhibit B:
Blue 1989 (or 1990 or 1991..somewhere in that range) Mercury Cougar with ALL windows tinted (very dark, very, very dark) the word "COUGAR" written in some awful font across the top of the windshield, chrome rims and it was lowered.

Exhibit C:
Honda Civic from 1998, 1999, or 2000 (one of those), with chrome rims, lowered (way too much), a beastly spoiler (probably a foot-foot and a half tall), and a beast of a shiny exhaust pipe! Now, I just saw this one at a red light as it made a turn in front of me across the intersection (it had originally been going the opposite way) and I had to keep going straight so I didn't get a good read on any stickers (I had my glasses on instead of contacts anyway :().

I had some fun making fun of these cars when I saw them and explaining what a riceburner is to my friend. :)

Btw, before yesterday, I had only seen like 2 or 3 ricers in all my days here! Wonder if The Fast and the Furious has anything to do with it or if it's just the college kids bringing their cheap, but "cool" (in their eyes...) cars home?

The DOHC VTEC decl is stock on the Prelude. Yes, the car actually has that. The Dual Exhaust tho... that is just damn ricey.

The others however are a shame. Ugh...

Gawd - why do people buy semi-nice cars (the Prelude) and wuss out on the exhaust? If you're going to make it loud (and fast), at least purchase a full cat-back system or full exhaust system and not a cheap $80 muffler from Midas. Geez...

Not if it's a true duallie - a dual setup helps the S2000s 2.0 reach 240HP, so it can't hurt

I'm gonna have to see a dyno or something of a S2k with the Duals reaching 240. I've seen a S2k with dual exhaust before, but he had lots of other mods as well. Why would you want to lose any backpressure with dual exhaust on those things anyways?

that's stock. as for the mufflers, the guy's probably installed an intake, and then added the dual exhaust partly for better flow but mostly for looks and a slightly more aggressive sound.

EDIT: these are also the CHEAPEST and EASIEST mods to do.

Jeez, in my area (Beaverton, Oregon) you cant go outside without seeing one. They are everywhere. Some are nice, but some are just ridicoulous. I dont understand the whole concept, really, spending thousands of dollars on 200hp, but I come from the old school, where 1500 bucks in engine work nets you 11's at the strip. Oh well.

<< Exhibit B: >>

We bought a chevy blazer (to turn it into this) and the previous owner had a sticker that ran across the top of the windshield that said:

"You can't see El-B"

The damn thing must have caused the blue window tint to fade, cause if you look at it now in just the right light, you can see some of the letters still in the tint. It doesn't matter anyway, cause now the car is finished and people look at it more then they do the windshield :D

I've never seen a ricer here. I think its a west coast/major metropoliton area thing. Maybe it'll spread out here cause of F&TF.

I'm with UnixFreak though. A finely tuned engine in a 70's vintage camaro is ideal :). The kind of engine that uses our precsious oil reserves :D

Zippy,
Hahaha...you doofus. If you're gonna make fun of ricers at least do your homework man. Boy thinks VTEC and DOHC are some some kinda ricer racing teams.

No, I know they aren't ricer teams (jackass- i'm not retarded), but often times on ricers you will see VTEC and DOHC stickers on the cars with absolutely nothing on/ in the car that actually supports those stickers. ;)

So exhibit A sucked...sorry...sheesh

Please note..."and two stickers on the trunk (nicely sized, perhaps he actually has these things and they aren't just for show?!) that say VTEC and DOHC."

<< Whats a VTEC and DOHC ? >>

Correct me if i'm wrong but VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing/Electronic Control. Toyota has a slightly modified version of this called VVTL-i. The newer Honda's also come with that slightly modified technology called iVTEC. Basically VVTL-i and iVTEC means there's both Valve *and* Lift timing. (Variable Valve Timing and Lift for VVTL-i, dunno what "i" is in iVTEC)

DOHC = Dual Overhead Cams

"i" simply denotes "intelligent" VTEC. Its supposed to help the low end torque on all Hondas :)

We'll find out how good it is soon enough.

The S2000 does not have a true dual setup. It's impossible. It's an inline four (flat four, whatever the hell they use). It has a quasi-dual setup. Single collector going back to a split near the rear of the car into two mufflers.

A true dual setup is only on v engines. One pipe off of each side of the v after the collector.

I thought Preludes had two tips on the back of them anywayss? Or are we talking two mufflers, one on either side of the car?

VTEC = Variable Valve Timing / Lift Electronic Contorol, different than the VVT crap in the Toyotas because the lift is electronically controlled as well. Toyota, Ford, etc, all use just variable valve timing. Honda uses it at higher RPMs to boost horsepower, not for low RPM torque gains (ain't nuthin gunna help out a 1.6L I4 get low end torque).

I have a '91 prelude and the stock muffler has dual exhaust tips on it.... They were stock all the way back then. It also has DOHC, but not VTEC :(

yeah I would hope the "i" would help. VTEC at ~5000 rpms kinda sucks. well you could get a different ECU I suppose.
