I am guessing that none of you guys on here have ever had ducks before, but I've had them just about all of my life. The ducks were MATING. The ones that were climbing all over her were drakes (males). Ducks usually do this in the water, but it can sometimes be done on land too, such as in this pic:

Glad I could clear that up for you guys
I just visited them again a few minutes ago. Again various ducks were assaulting her. I do not believe they were trying to mate for a few reasons:
Even when the duck was submissive to the point where I thought she was dead, they never attempted to mount her. In fact the entire time they were off to the side, holding her down.
Not only males were attacking her.
Other types of ducks both male and female were trying to assault her as well.
While attacking her, they also attacked her babies.
She just had ducklings less than a month ago. I don't think it would make sense to mate with her now.
There are plenty of other females ducks in the lake.
Her feathers and body are completly screwed up after yesterdays incident. Perhaps during mating they get beat up too, but this looked very excessive.
I've seen other animals attack mothers and babies too. I think instinctively they want their own offspring to live so they attack the young of others. My cats and chickens acted in this way when they had babies, but never so violently
