Whatever you do, dont speak to a doctor about pills that mess with your hormone and increase your depression

Work with your M.D. to find something that works for you, or come to a conclusion that none of them do and use a diaphram, IUD, condoms, etc., instead.

(If only modern medicine could come up with something that increased women's sex drive without the other side effects...)

Why when the human body already came up with it? Testosterone is the direct control of sex drive in women as well as men. Look it up if you doubt me.

If you don't like the side effects then yes, you should look into something right for you. You might try to find a lower dose through a patch like Othro Evra or just ditch hormone therapy altogether and try spermicidal gel and condoms. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist on what might work better.

Tried tha patch, it failed and has also been proven to actually be harmful to women. I dont know if I would be comfortable with the spermicidal gel... and other ideas? :)

This is a good option. It worked well for me except it made me break out more than normal. Otherwise, no upset stomach, depression, nothing.
Could not feel it whatsoever.

Yeah, but increased levels of testosterone in women can cause more body hair (like on the chest too) and other manly attributes.

Yes, I know. Remember I said I have an in-born hormone disorder I must treat? :(

That's no real indication of its overall efficacy. Just means by dumb luck you happen to know someone who got pregnant while on the ring. Condoms aren't 100% effective and people still use them all the time.

Two forms of protection are better than one. Condoms break.

For a lot of women the effects aren't very bad and can actually make their periods less painful. Not to mention is less of a hassle than to worry about a condom.

What do you mean failed and harmful to women?

Some other suggestions you've probably already thought of: female condoms, diaphrams, and vasectomy for the guy.

Damn, well I need to take some of that!

Yaz - "Situation"
Yaz - "Only You"
...
Yaz - "I don't want no babies."

Did they have to pay Yazoo for the rights? I've been wondering that since I first saw the commercial.

I was totally into Yaz when my wife and I started dating. I played it on the tape player in the car on our first date.

Did I miss the pics?

This doesn't happen to all women - some just can't handle the estrogen like others. Plus there are other side effects that are nicer - shorter, lighter periods, with less menstrual cramping, and also the ability to pinpoint when your period will arrive. If taken regularly and correctly, birth control is extremely effective.

Plus some also can clear acne and regulate mood swings. Downside is that some women tend to gain weight while on the pill.

The patch has been shown to increase the blood clot risk in women, however this risk was already known, especially in women that smoked.

Any women that are on birth control ideally should not smoke because of this risk.

BC can be a PITA...

You start messing with hormones and you never know what can happen. I dated a girl a number of years ago who would get the most unbelievable PMS when she was on Ortho... we changed that out real quick. Had to go through three more before we found one that didn't make her crazy for two weeks a month.

Have you tried the shot (can't remember the name) or the sticks that sit under your skin? (can't remember that one either...)

I've had GF's who used those and they managed to stay pretty even. Of course it could have just been them... BC is such a case by case basis.

Some good advice here. There are so many birth control prescribe-able drugs that it's hard to believe that one of them won't be right for you. I had a GF back in high school that literally went batshit crazy with the first birth control pill she was given.
