I recently got Tinnitus, anyone else here have it?

For those who don't know Tinnitus is a constant ringing, hissing or roaring (varies from person to person) in the ears that has various causes, some of which are not exactly known and which has no cure in a lot of cases.

A couple months ago I got Tinnitus in my right ear, I think I'm going to go into the doctor to have it checked out. I hope it is just ear wax, I've had huge wax buildup in my right ear before. Fortunately, it is not a real bad case, I can't hear it if there is any noise in the room, but when I'm wearing ear plugs when I'm out at a range shooting guns it gets really loud and annoying.

Anyone else have Tinnitus, and if so how bad do you have it? According to the Tinnitus site ata.org, 50 million Americans have some form of Tinnitus and 2 million Americans have it so bad that they cannot perform everyday tasks. That must really suck.

My high school music teacher developed it about two years ago. It was just a really high-octave F or G (it changed at least once) that he heard just ringing in his head. His case wasn't too bad, though, since it didn't seem to bother him in the least after a little while.

That sucks. My dad has it in both ears, but his was caused by hearing loss, and there is nothing the docs can do for it. I hope I don't have the same. 🙁

i went clubbing once with this girl, and for some reason didnt notice i was dancing right next to the speaker for the whole night. I came back with ringing ears that lasted the whole week.

the funny thing is...after a few days..it would only ring when i hear female voices. it made some girl's voices totally unbearable to listen to. i told some married doctor about it and he said he wished he had it.

I've had it for years. Caused by a lot of ear infections as a kid. I've just gotten used to it, although at times it can get annoying as hell. Could worse, I could be deaf.

on occasion, ususally after loud music or grinding something. i beat the hell out of my ears but i figure they'll have a pill or stem cell or something by the time i go deaf.

not sure if this is the same thing, but sometimes if i'm really tired and I go to bed...while I'm laying there, everything all quiet, i can hear this ringing/noise in my ears...and it's kinda weird b/c it's there and it's not there. Don't really know how to explain it.

Is it ONLY when you go to bed or just when you are in a quiet room? I can only hear my Tinnitus in a quiet room, usually when I go to bed. For instance, the sound of my CPU fan completely wipes it out.

yeah pretty much i only hear it when I'm in a really quiet room. I don't have to be sleeping even, if I'm just sitting really still...i'll hear some noise in my ears that's kind of ringing/static...not sure how to explain...

Hehe, I always thought I was hearing my blood flow through my head.

Nope, I'm almost certain that's Tinnitus. You should have it checked out by an ear doctor.

I've had it for a few years - the worst part is that I got it from a Nickelback concert, just to add insult to injury (I went with my girlfriend at the time who was dying to see them for some stupid reason).

The first week I had it was really rough, I could see why people kill themselves over it. That was a few years ago and I'm ok with it now, it's lessened and I usually cannot hear it.

Still sucks though.

That suxxors man. A program on Discovery Health Channel I saw says that white noise, like the sound of the ocean can help block it out.

I've had it all my life.

It ranges from barely noticeable to very annoying, usually tied to my blood sugar level. I'm a diabetic so my blood sugar is constantly moving in one direction or the other.

The tinnitus is worse when the sugar level is rising. I always hear it after every meal. And of course when going to sleep, in a quiet room.

I have it mildly. I can only hear it in absolute silence. I am a devoted earplug junkie and I always keep some in my car in case I forget to put them in my pocket when I go to a concert. Concerts are awful. I find even the music they play before the band goes on stage to be offensively loud!

My boss has it bad. He is undergoing retraining therapy with these devices he wears like hearing aids in his ears and he keeps a white noise generator running in his office at all times.

Ummm... I think I might have it also? I cannot fall asleep unless music is playing or white noise from a fan or my pc. Cuz theres like a weird ringing. I always thought it was like... dunno my ears popping or something or blood rushing to my brain.

I usually get a ringing after a concert of sorts.. but in the end, it goes away completely after a couple days.

William Shatner suffers from Tinnitus. He almost killed himself because of it.

And we all suffer from William Shatner. Tell me now, what's worse?

Bill Shatner > you

I have it when it's quiet. I guess it isn't loud enough for ambient noise.

I have a ringing that comes on every once in a while. Not sure what triggers it and it only lasts a few minutes. I also have sensitivity to certain volumes and frequencies, it sounds like static to me and it hurts. Not sure what that is but it's really annoying.

I have it very bad, and I am only 21.

All the research I have done, says that it is mainly genetic, but can be caused by loud prolonged noises.

I listen to music very loudly, in my car... but that's partly because I can't hear it 😀

I always have to turn the TV up real loud to hear it.

There is constantly ringing in my ears...
