Disability only pays .66% of your salary. I can use vacation time to make up the difference and get 100% of my salary.
66% is about all you bring home, anyway. You get 66% of your gross for disability. Most folks don't bring home that much, especially in a state that has income tax.

I've been on disability before, and I got slightly more than I actually brought home when I was working.

My monther-in-law has alot of vacation time banked... for years she got a week or two more vacation time than my father-in-law, so alot of times her "extra" went unused.

It's helping her now though, since she got sick, she's been getting full pay for over 2 months now.

Hopefully she'll be able to get back to work soon though... cause sitting at home is driving her nuts. lol

I work a compressed work schedule with nine hour days from M-Th so every other weekend IS a three day weekend. ;)

Plus, since half of the workforce (including my boss) is on the opposite work schedule with this Friday off, it's very quiet around here. Hence, why I'm on AT (plus the other networks are acting up today -- time to check them again).

My phone rings at 9:01 every day I'm on vacation, and it's someone from the office with a stupid computer problem.

Thats not a vacation
Turn the phone OFF and/or tell them (the higher ups) that when you're out on vacation it means VACATION and you are ONLY to be reached for CRITICAL situations.

Seems a lot of you people have shitty jobs, shitty ideas of "vacations" or feel that you don't deserve time off and they can't live without you.

Sorry I live to live life not to work.

The people that slave over their jobs in the office are the ones that get promoted and then frown on others not staying in the office until midnight and using vacation time.

Get out, get out man! Most companies in the auto industry aren't like that!

LOL! Thanks! This is typical of the auto industry here. Even at the OEM, the designers and test engineers have to be told to leave at 11 PM,.

With that much vacation, I would just take a week off and be lazy. I would sit on the couch watch sports and grill, drink beer, and call friends to catch up. Man I need a vacation...I have 3 day weekends coming after I work this one ...woot.

April - November I work a 4/10 schedule. 10 hours a day, Mon-Th. Every weekend is a 3 day weekend.

I have no money to go anywhere, i blew it on camera gear, haha. I will probably take 3-4 day weekends. I have far more sick leave though, I wish I could cash out on that, heh.

I get 3 weeks of vacation every year on my hire date(plus i forget how many "personal hours", which do not expire), and it must be used by that time the following year or we lose it.

My wife and I don't plan on going anywhere big as she just started a new job, and doesn't get her vacation til next February, so I'll be taking a lot of extended weekends.

trust me, it would not amount to much since most of it would be taxes. Just take every Wednesday off that way you have 2 day workweek :)
