You're the only one...

Personally, I thought it was mediocre.

i thought it was terrible... i started laughing at some of the dialogue, it was so bad

It's a shame too, because it seemed like it had so much potential but it just turned out campy and cheesy as hell. If anything I think it ended up being a caricature of the whole Star Wars franchise.

story itself was very good.. directing and writing was not that great
lucas is way overrated when in terms of the star wars series. he can create a good story but cannot flesh it out in script all that well, and cannot bring out great acting out of actors who have it in them. watch v for vendetta, and then watch the newer star wars trilogy. look at the difference of natalie portman alone. she can act, but like all actors, they need the guidance of a good director. george lucas is not that director in terms of bringing out the role from an actor.

yeah. he can come up with a heck of a story. but the script and directing? ugh he sucks.

its a pity though. just think how the movie could have been with a good director and better writers. But of course i watched it. I did enjoy the final fight scene and vader raising up on the table! man they should have ended it right there. that NOOOO really killed it.

thats the problem... the 'noooooooo!' is a realistic and likely reaction from any man in his situation.... or something very similar, but no matter what, its a reaction that cannot translate to movies as it will always come off cheesy. think about it, we would all say something right along those lines that when thought about, from a different perspective, just won't sound right. we would just have empathy rather than an audience that will laugh at us. 😉

I thought it was great.

Loved the whole part with Ankin getting chopped down by the lava and the whole "you were the chosen one!!!"

What carried episode 3 was the assumption that it couldn't be done.

I know I went to see how george would pull it off.

I was going to write a logn shpeal here, but all I will say is this:

In these past three movies, the emphasis has been on creating actors out of nothing through CGI, and whether it was intended or not, on overshadowing the skill of the real actors. WHether George made everyone hold back or jsut plain didn't know how to direct, I found the fictional characters to be much developed than their warm-blooded partners in crime, and in the end, that served no purpose since movie -goers expect good acting from every cast member.

The story was great. Frankly, the story was epic. Just thinking about the story makes me realize who wonderful George's mind really is. Seeing those CGI scenes is inspiring because in the past, one could only imagine those things, and to see it on screen is...

While George's visions were beautiful, something simply was not there, and these movies will be remembered for their shortcomigns rather than their sucesses.

of all the 3 prequels, the 3rd was probably the best. but they were all extremely mediocre compared to the originals.

dude..that "Nooo" was unexcusable....I didn't misinterpret it. It was jsut so bad that it was sad.

I have to disagree with one of the posters above.

The 2nd series of movies had every opportunity in the world to live up to the first series.
They should have put a lot more focus into the story and a lot less on visual effects. As someone already mentioned, George Lucas got a little too hung up on making his movie with a computer.
The whole Star Wars concept was his idea. He should have been on set every day watching the interaction between the actors and fixing the dialog as needed.
Then maybe we could have had movies that were at least comparable to the others.

Also, with regards to the Leah/Mother issue: I always assumed she was referring to Queen Organna, who didnt live too many years after her adoption.

very enjoyable, loved the entrance ship fighting scene, and basically all the saber fights, what was cheesy is the amidala/vader things. they kinda sucked. other than that great movie. also the "NOOOOOOO" kinda sucked.

I liked it. Only things I didn't like was the NOOO scene, and that Chewy is in it. I do like Kashyyyk being in it, no problem there.
