i cant believe this, i joined the BE forum yesterday and my first thoughts were good .. but wait a minute .. what can i see at the bottom of...
dont worry, the BE mods are very much on top of everything in the forums. nothing out of line is tolerated there. they are prolly already keeping an eye on certain ppl 😉

Im not discouraged from the forum as I quiet like it in there, I like the sort of atmosphere and quality within BE, ive noticed that a lot of the people are old current AT members as well .. 🙂

Self moderation of threads you start can work. What they would allow is instead of you being able to delete a post (like a true moderator would be able to) you would instead flag it as "crap" and it'd be collapsed much like the comments are done in the news threads. There would be no censorship as the posts are still there, everyone would have to do an extra click to read the comments. If an original poster is shown to constantly mod normal comments because they don't agree with the OP's views, it will show. Those who act responsibly and intelligently and are trying to have a decent conversation are protected. Those who are thread crappers and trolls will have their comments hidden unless someone truely wishes to read their crap.

i pm'd a mod about two different flame bait threads last night and both were locked down with in minutes 🙂

i dunno if i was the only one to complain but it was nice to see that if you link them they at least take a look and make a rational decision.

This is in fact what happens now. Just suggesting that intel cpu's are sometimes ok will get you flamed around here, I don't find the trolls to be any worse than the fanboys. I understand that most people feel the need to justify whatever they have purchased, but it reaches new hights on this forum, which effectively limits the conversation to AMD only.

Vegitto, it's just a forum, the easy answer is to respond once to the trolls, then just ignore them. A big mouth is often used to hide a small brain.

Disagree. Sometimes the trolls get to be a serious waste of time. If you're trying to extract some useful information, or just bonding with others of like mind, a troll can become discouraging or annoying in short order. After all, some of these people will say things to you online that they wouldn't dare say to your face. Responding to them is a waste of electrons but there's an awful lot of 'em.

Also, there are plenty of Intel forums on AT. But the enthusiast community dominates AT - gee, I wonder why that is? Is it possible that Intel lost that constituency?

Anyway anyone with half a brain knows that a CPU choice is not worth a holy war.

If the good guys (non trolls) never write a single post in response to a troll, it's like the trolls really don't exist. We don't think the trolls make you or anyone else look bad because we don't even consider their opinions. It's obvious who they are to all the intelligent people who are your friends. Please stay if you want to. 🙂
