No 5:6 divider, single channel RAM, no AGP/PCI lock, PATA only (although to be fair SATA was an option if you got the top model)...

But it's running FEAR like a dream at 10x7 max details (no AA/8xAF/no spftshadows) with my 6600GT@575/1145, 1GB RAM, 2.1Ghz Tbred-B(167x12.5, 1.8vcore) (SB Live! 24-bit, 160GB WD, DVICO HDTV fusionlite card) :D

Complements my trusty dual 17' CRTs very nicely...

How's that for a long lasting platform? ;)

It's still quite adequate paired with my 6600GT, but anything gruntier in the GPU department would start suffering from a CPU bottleneck.

I really have no competition?

I would have thought that there would be at least some P4 rigs of this vintage out there...

I have Northwood 2.4 with an i865 mobo still in action.

I believe your CPU/mobo would wipe the floor with that one.

My ancient P4 rig will pwn all of yours (if by pwn you mean it sux more)

Try a p4 1.6, 32mb gf2 mx SDR, 256mb pc133 SDR ram, and a whopping 60gb 5000rpm hard drive that's on its last legs. But it ran HL2 at minimum settings at an astonishing 20fps!

I've actually not been using the rig in my signature for the past 3 months because I've been too lazy to reformat and reinstall windows on it(main drive nuked itself for some reason). I've been using my backup rig in it's place:

ECS Mobo with VIA KT333 chipset
AMD AXP 2500+ Barton core (Was an 1800+ Palomino core until about a year ago)
1gb DDR 2100 (Mismatched Kingston / Nanya sticks)
GeForce 4 Ti 4800 SE (4400 with 8x AGP)

It works just fine for what I've been wanting, and I'm just not motivated to revive my gaming rig for some reason.

Hmm...impressive, unless that's not your main rig ;)

I'm playing Far Cry right now with my 1.4Ghz Thunderbird, 9200 128MB, and 512MB PC2100. I win.

You win, although my hard drive is a 20GB.

Well that is older than mine, but mine is my main (and only) gaming rig (and is actually very capable even in the latest and greatest games like FEAR at 1024 with all the detail cranked up) ;)

I got

P4 3.0Ghz 533 FSB HT
1024 GB Ram 2.5-3-3-5
MSI Neo2 865
Geforce 5950U 128MB AGP 8x (Modded from 5900)
Creative Audigy2 ZS
160 WD SATA + 80 MAXTOR SATA + 80 BARACUDA PATA HDD
19" Flatron CRT

I can play Quake4 at highest setting at 1024*768 with few lags here and there
Doom3 at same res at high setting plays smooth
HL2 with same res and highest setting also play smooth

Old but does the job. I think it will hold me out another year if I upgrade the grapic card to 6800GS or 7800GS

ECS K75SA Pro (v5.0) mobo with hacked Honey bios
Athlon 1800+ overclocked from 1.5Ghz to 1.7Ghz (2000+)
2 x 256mb sticks of generic memory (1 pc2100 and 1 pc2700)
Prolink AGP GeForce FX5200 (128-bit memory, 250Mhz core, 400Mhz mem)
Upgraded form 40GB->200GB HD a few months ago

It's my only system, and it is getting a bit tired, but it keeps me happy playing Doom3, Half-life 2, CounterStrike Source, COD 1, GUN, Diablo 2, Battlefield 2 and others. I really want to play COD2 but I don't think this system will handle it.

How do I rate on the suck-o-meter?

munky's SDR beats me by a country mile, but I think my Asus A7N266-VM edges yours out by a nose, dug. nForce 1, otherwise identical limitations. I bought it with a XP1700+, but upgraded to a 2400+. This 2400+ is actually supposed to OC like a mofo, but my MB--wait for it--doesn't support OCing! Plus, neither RAM stick is PC3200. Pity, b/c my CPU's holding even this aging 9800P back in MP FPSes.

paladin's another thread "winner." :)

My retro game system (with SLI, no less  ) has an old ASUS A7M266 board and a 1.4ghz thunderbird (chipped and cracked everywhere along the edges, but it works :p ). This board actually uses an AMD chipset; I think it was the last consumer oriented chipset they made. I have been playing some great old games on this computer for the last two days.

If it's not your primary gaming computer it doesn't count. If it did, then I'm sure that there's some guy with a 486 or something out there somewhere.

I have an AM3X86 DX40 that gets used to run dos doom and a few other old dos games, it's kitted out with 8mb 30pin ram, 1mb S3 805, SBAWE32 and a Quantum 1280AT harddisk.

it runs win3.11 and even can surf the net using IE5.5.
I think I posted with it a few times in ATOT last year, maybe somebody could dig up that post.

Darn, I used to have a system like yours...maybe even same mobo (I had a asus kt333 based board, forget the name), but I upgraded to an nforce 2 and a mobile barton about 3 years ago. (the nforce 2 gave a bigger performance increase than the faster barton btw)

Oh, I also had a secondary computer up till about 2 months ago with a biostar kt333 based mobo (one of the first kt333 mobos I think, though I bought it months after my nforce2 for $20) with a 2200+ XP and a geforce 3.
