Late last year (around December) my only gaming option was nethack on a Power Computing 120 mhz PPC clone from circa 1995. Or solitare on inlaws' ancient P2.

The mac was my firewall at the time -- I retired it two weeks ago. ATI Rage 32, 384 megs of ram, Seagate Barracuda 2 gig drive. Very well hung box that went for around $5500 in its day.

Got NetBSD to run on it back in um 2000 or so, and it's been my firewall for around 5 years. And it could still play old unix text games like a champ!

edit: up until a few weeks ago, my wife's only gaming machine (civ3, diablo2) was an asus A7V with SDR PC133 ram (512 megs), T-bird 800, maxtor 5200 rpm 40G drive, Radeon DDR LE modded to a Radeon 7200. She wins.

I'm still running an A7V333, with a 2400+, 1024MB PC2700, and my trusty ol' 9800 Pro... My cousin is using my old A7V, 1.3Ghz Thunderbird (runs hot as hell), 512MB PC133, and a GeForce 4 Ti4400.

I'm pushing off upgrading as long as I can - I want to have a good idea of what NVidia is doing, and what runs Oblivion runs on best... but I'm getting impatient :x.

and it has quake2 installed, so it's also a gaming rig.
anyone else?

If it's not your primary gaming computer it doesn't count. If it did, then I'm sure that there's some guy with a 486 or something out there somewhere.

Count or no count, it's the oldest posted. And beat my dad's first computer. Is in the garage somewhere. 286 16MHz w/Turbo switch :D . I remember I used to play a game named Robots on it. It was all green and black... uuugh the horror

I would have a 9800 pro, but the powercolor ones couldn't seem to handle the Aussie heat, i went through five before my supplier gave me a 6600GT instead :p

Not winning any contests here but I'm still using this as my main PC:

Epox 8RDA3
Athlon XP 2100+
1GB CAS2 DDR @ PC2100
Radeon 9700 Pro
Audigy 2

Ran FEAR (800x600) and COD2 (1024x768, DX7 path) surprisingly well with medium settings. Currently saving up for a new build and selling this one cheap to my brother who's running a P3 1.1 with 384MB and GeForce2 Pro (which will, in turn, become my FreeBSD server).

my current rig kinda sucks. i just don't have the budget to get a new one. waiting for my birthday to upgrade it.
my rig:
AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+ @ 2000mhz
ASUS A7N8X-X
Maddog GeForce 4 440MX SE 64MB ram
512MB of PC3200RAM
160GB storage (an ancient 80GB maxtor drive and a newer 80GB WD drive)
CMV Polyview V372 17in LCD moniter
Creative Inspire 2500 2.1 Speaker.

speaks for itself doesn't it? i plan on upgrading my videocard in like two months. but for now, i think i win!;)
