it was in washington dc. fairly interesting. this was how it went down:

we met at the circle. everyone was to go by time.gov, or their cell phone's time. these were the instructions handed to us:

7:28 approach entrance and begin entering the location (book store across the street). note the magazine rack on the right side of the store. casually browse the aisles as the reset of the mob enters the store. try not to attract attention from the now suspicious employees.
7:31 begin approaching the magazine area. grab a magazine and flip through it. remain standing
7:32 find an article. read it to yourself
7:33 exchange magazines with someone near you and read their article to yourself
7:34 start reading their article OUT LOUD
7:35 high-five your neighbors for 10 seconds, put your magazine back, and then quickly disperse.

it was pretty cool, actually. i really wanted to bring a camera, but then i wouldn't be participating, so i just lived it instead. hopefully the people that took pics submit them to the site where this originated, and they're up soon. i don't know how successful it was, but apparently there were 90-100 people, which seems pretty good to me

did you see a pair of indian kids? one tall, one medium height? my friend's brother took pictures..... can you put up the name of the site that set the whole thing up again?

I think they are really cool.
I am glad you told us.
I would do one if they had one near me.

I flashed a mob the other day. No sooner had I done the deed, one of the henchmen showed me HIS piece, and I decided that I should probably not continue participating in this potentially deadly "flash mob" phenomenon.

You should of all took 2 Magazines each and ran out, that would of been funnier when the cops would be looking for 100 people.

seriously how can you say its not fun you've never tried it. Try explaining american football to someone who has never heard of it, they'll think its the dumbest sounding thing also.

EDIT:

I'm glad my post actually resulted in someone else attending.

I think the whole flash mob thing would be better if you did something productive. Since you aren't protesting or anything, do something nice. For instance, have a group go to a park and everyone pick up trash for 10 minutes.
