I'm often on a very tight schedule, and 5 minutes of pointless BS can make me late for something I had planned. It may seem like all harmless "fun" to you and the people doing it, but it can be just annoying to the people it affects.

if browsing magazines is that annoying to you , then you should loook into killing yourself immediately cuz you live a sad sad life.

If I'm trying to get in there to pick up a magazine before I head to work or a friends house, then yes, it is annoying to me.

If I'm just fvcking off during some free time, then I wouldn't care, but if it makes me late for something, it's not so harmless to me.

a book or magazine can never be that important. If it is you should have planned delays into your schedule. When you goto work in the morning to leave with exactly enough time to get there not banking on any traffic? No certainly not you plan to leave enough time so if htere are delays you make it on time to work still.

I don't exactly live in a town with traffic. The population is maybe.. 3000? A flash mob at the bank, grocery store, book store, gas station, etc. would mess up a lot of people's schedules.

Your actions do have consequences, even if you think it's harmless fun and you're only there for 10-15 minutes. People could lose their jobs for being late. As RishiS said, sh!t happens, but some sh!t is avoidable by people thinking for a second about what they're doing.

Exactly. Not to mention, they disrupt general public / business activities. What if you were in the bookstore, and wanted to buy a magazine when 90-100 people came in and took over the place. It's not funny.
lighten up and dont take a magazine so seriously(or better yet goto another f-ing store or wait 5 minutes till they dissipate). you can tell all the stressed out, up tight, anal people here.
I'm not uptight at all, I just hate "random" mobs because I want to go about my day and not have some retard and his pals act like jackasses at the expense of my time. IMO, this is abuse of free speech. Mabye you flash mob people should take life a little more seriously and stop f'ing around just because you think its funny. Its like going back through high school, but worse. :|
Maybe we should stage a flash mob to help you get the stick out of your butt... Sorry you had to wait an extra 5 minutes to get your latest copy of YM.
You'd have to wait to pick up your copy of Seventeen. I suppose its too much to ask to go outside and not be harassed by idiots and jackasses.
But you're not uptight at all. No way. Certainly not.
You think being uptight is not wanting to be bothered?
Nobody wants to be bothered. It's a matter of what miniscule little things you allow to bother you.
So you're saying you don't mind if someone else pisses away your time?
your miserable I have a gun you can borrow.
Thats nice, I have 3 of my own. You fail to acknowledge responsibility for effecting other peoples lives. Could be positive, could be negative. In the case of flash mobs, its negative.
your miserable......its hopeless arguing with a miserable person.

Can't defeat that thing called..... LOGIC. :Q

its your perception of whats annoying, harmless or positive. I tend to think that the important things are my health my family and my friends. Everything else is secondary and I tend not to sweat it. You are miserable and sweat everything. You would complain about winning the lottery cuz you'd now be subject to a higher tax bracket. You bring those around you down with your pessimistic attitudes. You will not change and therefore i choose not to continue this discussion with you. Your an up tight a$$hole and thats all there is to it. Take your logic home and ram it up your a$$ with the stick thats there.

:) ;)

dont goto a bookstore if people browsing magazines is bothersome. GOTO FVCKING AMAZON.

I doubt they are unemployed, i doubt they are fools and i doubt they were doing it to be cool. They were prolly doing it to try something different, for a thrill or for something could end up being *gasp* fun.

keep rolling your eyes. Keep that stick nice in snug in your ass.

Right, because we all know those with real jobs who have responsibilities love to waste their time doing things like this. I'd be interested to know how many of them had houses and full time jobs.

BTW, being different by being like a few hundred other people kinda defeats the point.

they were trying something different not trying to be different.

I wouldnt be surprised if most of them had jobs houses and responsibilties that they wanted to get away from the routine and throw a little spice in there boring and predictable lives.

If your life is so pathetic that an asinine event such as this makes you feel complete, you deserve pity.

If your life is so pathetic that an disruption in your magazine purchase ruins your day then you deserve a suicide note and glock in your mouth.

so now flash mobs cause people to be fired? ;) and in a town the size of 3000, a flash mob would be 3 people.

there are generally two ways rational people would interpret flash mobs: 1, interesting, funny, and different from normal life, and 2, some idiots doing something pointless. personally, i don't care which category you fall into, as long as it's one of them. but if you get angry over something like this, as some of you have, you really have some problems. at 7:30 pm in a bookstore, this started and finished in 4 minutes. even within that time, you could have easily picked up any magazine, it wasn't like we were forcibly preventing people from purchasing them.

but this doesn't matter to some of you. this whole flash mob idea isn't just a waste of time to you, it actually makes you mad. it's an affront to your way of life, and it actually pisses you off. it's not enough for you to simply roll your eyes and shrug it off; oh no, this is something that must be stopped because it's malum in est. i'm not going to waste my time and yours trying to explain our actions, because it's obviously futile. so go on thinking that because i participated in this, i'm a lazy bum who's a burden on society and has selfish motives of wasting everyone's precious time maliciously. there's nothing i can say or do to persuade you differently. i only hope that you're not as stiff in other aspects of your lives, though i suspect otherwise if something as small as this sets you off so.

p.s. to everyone else, i was actually in the video. the only thing i'll say to reveal who i am is the person with the horrible posture. my mother was right! :)

An attempt to defend a pointless act is difficult, as your arguments suggest. 99.99% of people do not have enough time on their hands to get involved with a pointless act, and generally most people would not receive any type of entertainment from an act like this. I am not saying it's wrong, and it does not get me upset or angry (there are much much worse things to get my blood pressure up about) but I think this whole idea is incredibly stupid and a waste of time. Seriously... I think many college kids have nothing better to do than protest stupid ideas or go do flash mobs, etc. I bet most them probably do not carry a job or have many responsibilities if this is the thing they do with their valuable time. I am a very friendly, happy go lucky person, but I wouldn't ever think about wasting time getting with a bunch of strangers in a public place and trying to draw attention to myself. I would also think that is the drive inside a lot of these people...

Just like freaks in a highschool...most dress dark/weird because they have been deprived of attention at some point in their life and enjoy when people finally look at them with their punk haircuts or when their in a bookstore getting a boner to a flashmob.

for the record it wasnt because they have a different opiniion that i told them to kill themselves, its because there lives seem so miserable how they get so upset over something so benign and silly.
