<< Damn, how do you guys let yourselves get so far in the hole? >>

Why would somebody be in the hole if they have debt? Most of the extremely wealthy have mountains of debt. Or, do you even understand the definition of "in the hole"?

$15 for 4 hours? You think that's good wages?

$13k in student loans and $3k in CC right now. Nothing out of the ordinary. In North America today, many people are up to their waist in debt. Being in debt is not the problem, the problem is how you manage it.

Good God you people must be spending too much on the beer or something... I just spent 4K on a new Home Theater setup and got a new car 3 yrs ago (13K) and paid the car off in 6 months and paid the HT up front.... All the while paying for school and rent and Im only 21 with a student worker job at the university...

Some of you must not figure how much all that beer and cigs dig in to those debts... I'm not saying I dont drink but I dont have beer at the house 24/7 and I dont smoke....

Ive only got into debt the last semester and I owe about 1000 to my dad (he hooked me up with a 0% interest loan :) )

If you think anybody could spend $10k on beer in a couple of years I can see you're not majoring in math - such a person would have to be a hard core alcoholic.

I'm guessing when you paid that car off you were living at home, so it's not really comparitive to somebody who is paying for rent and utilities and everything else.

<< lmao, am i the only person that owes nothing around here? lol >>

Nope!!
Although I can't really fault anyone who has student loans to pay off.
Those loans seem to me to be an investment in the future.

No I was at school but It was over a summer where I was working 40 hrs a week. But I also put 6k into a car fund before I ever bought it.

No I didnt say 10k... But everything eats into your debt ($500 per year for beer and 1000 for cigs adds up). Its all about the management and I never buy anything unless I have the money in the bank account. The only reason people get into debt is they spend money when they dont have it.

"Of that $9300, probably $7500 is related to my car..."

There are quite a few people coughing up $400.00 per month for a single car... FOR 60 MONTHS! And some people have a second car payment on top of that! Being in debt $7,500 for a decent car ain't too bad if you look at it that way :)

Like I said before if debts are worrying you, set a budget. I'm sure you can have all the forms of entertainment, cars or whatever, that you want maybe not as spontaneously as you want, but with a budget you'll get your debt down to where you feel more comfortable with it.

Like it said in my last sig-If you don't change anything, don't expect anything to change.

Notfred, given you've got a more than decent car... heck, who am i kidding. You've got a very good car! Ever considered drag racing as a sport? Couple of wins here and there and you should have enough to pay off that debt and then some.

I've been considering going into Auto-x myself but that's going to take some time given my car is pure stock.

I only race for fun :)
I don't want to have to worry about losing money at it or not being able to pay the bills if I blow a head gasket. Anyway, I like my job now... I get my first paycheck in a week and a half or something. :)
