I just d/l'ed and installed speedfan 4.08 on my friend's comp. I'm not sure how it works and which temps go with what but on the right box it says:

temp2: 79degrees
temp1: 51degrees
temp2: 55degrees
temp1: 55degrees
there is a fire symbol next to all those readings and all I am running is AIM and this website...

What do you guys suggest my friend to do and what do those temps mean(like which one is my proc. temp and which is case)? He has a 2100+ non o/c'ed using retail heatsink fan that came with the proc. I think it is T-bred A. He currently only has two case fans located on the back top of the case. Should he buy for case fans or change his heatsink?

there is probably dust build up inside the case. if there is, clean it out and the temps should drop alot

what motherboard?
have you checked what the temps are reading in bios (the speedfan utility may not be reading the correct sensors)

Make sure the fan is still spinning and the heatsink is installed correctly?

Thats pretty good for fahrenheit.

The bigger number is the cpu temp as you've already guessed. But reboot the computer, and go into the pc health menu to verify the temps.

Does this person have any case fans? It might be a good idea to remove the case panels for now. 79C seems a little risky.

two case fans in the back and the heatsink fan is still spinning and he never had problems before so I'm guessing the heatsink is installed right

Has he moved it around lately? Maybe one of the ZIF socket tabs broke off, where the HSF attaches to, and now it's not fully on the chip.

You probably have speedfan calibrated incorrectly. Just go by what you bios says and use MBM 5 for windows.

Abit mobos are known to report wrong temperatures about 8-15C higher than normal. I suggest you to d/l MRM 5 (the latest one) find out what is your system temp, the CPU temp should be about 10C (idle) and 15C (full load) higher than system temp.

The temps you posted, the lowest is 51C which is still too high to be system temp. What is your room temp?

My friend says "I set up the MBM 5, configuring it all to my motherboard and went through each temperature separately. However, the one that kicked off the alarm was LM90 remote stating 82 degrees C (12 degrees above the alarm.) My room temperature is 28 degrees celsius, which is average so I don't know what is triggering the intense heat caused by the computer. I opened the covers and set a fan blow straight at it and the temperature lowered to about 78 degrees but my friend told me to close the case up since it creates a vacuum. So right now it's at 82 degrees and a range of 52-58 for the rest, I'm willing to listen to any advice. Thanks."

I put in some AS3 and then I turned it on next to my A/C (he brought over his comp) and bios said his temps was around 60degreesC I checked bios and his fsb is 133 and his ram is at 166... is that ok? and if you go into expert setting the fsb:agp:pci ratio is 4:2:1 is that correct?

ouch

my tbred 2100 @ 2700 173 fsb only had a vantec tdm areo flow on it and my room is 25-28C and the cpu hits 53 on a hot day and under load, average in this heat is 47
