Long story short, before the holidays, I ordered a Dell Dimension 8400 for the wifey. Not as a present, but more of a tax write-off kinda thing (don't tell her that) ... anyway, I just got around to setting it up this weekend and I noticed that instead of the Prescott 3.2 Ghz processor, Dell decided (or fubar'ed) and sent me a Prescott 3.4 Ghz instead!

I'm not complaining or anything. Maybe Dell ran outta 3.2s or something? Dunno. Anyone else have this happen?

+1 for Dell.

:D

Dell often fubars orders. Someone else got your 3.2 and will never know the difference because their invoice says 3.4

Your invoice specifies 3.2, right?

I don't think I've ever recieved a Dell Optiplex as-ordered.

Thats nice. However I highly doubt you are going to notice a difference.

But this is a number mistake.

We got two laptops. An 1100, and a 5100. My sister took the 5100 thinking it was hers, and we got stuck with the 1100 at home. Made it a b1tch when we needed tech support cuz the numbers didn't match up but whatever, that's like a $1700 lappy for free.

Cause speaking English helps one tell the difference between 3.2 and 3.4?

They couldn't read the memo about not substituting components.

Yeah I can see that conversation now . . . "Dammit, listen, my computer is running WAY TOO FAST! I demand that you send me something SLOWER! You hear me you Dell MFs?!?"

Yeah, that'll never happen.

Maybe it was Dell's Christmas present to me? Kinda like the $1 17" LCD TV that came with this system?

I  You Dellf Girl!

Me!! How is this any different from those "morality" threads where someone accidentally recieves someone's donated kidney and asks ATOT if he should keep it?
