leatherworking - I had an opportunity to learn this for free, with free material and access to the right tools from a professional leathershop back in college, and I passed it up :( I've always wanted to make my own jacket and moccasins

Miniature painting - can be fun, with good lighting and miniatures you like - warning, Citadel charges waaaaaaay too much, so try Reaper or another brand.

Computer building :D

Build models? Along that line could build models of things you want to learn more about and get a physical grasp of the jargan associated with it like ships. For example building old world ship models will teach you a lot about how they function and the names and purposes of the rigging, sales etc.

You think these guys look strange you should see their looks when they see a woman working the ropes.

That's getting blinded with science.

Those are fun. I was introduced to one in 9th grade - my then-soon-to-be physics teacher brought in his 750KV Tesla Coil. A year or two later, I had built my ~100KV coil, which is on my webpage. It's nowhere near the scale of this guy's coil. The secondary is only about 3" in diameter. Maybe once I'm out of college I'll build a larger one.

Last I heard, my physics teacher was working on a 10 million volt coil. I haven't checked in with him lately to see if it ever went anywhere. He also spent time on other projects, such as a rocket that was at least 12 feet tall, and about 10" in diameter. Its engine was larger than most Estes model rockets.

Learn to play the piano. A good beginner digital piano can be had for $400. I doubt there are other hobbies that are as rewarding.

Piano is fun. If you love music.. like seriously... Like I appreciate rock and hip hop and my radio stations are hip hop or rock or whatever, but I feel that even all those people who play guitar, drums, etc don't have the basic fundamentals that most pianists do. Classical music is still a part of me and I feel that true music is derived from learning piano/keyboard. That is why even basic musical classes are taught with a slant towards the keyboard.

Try bowling? Golf? Tennis? Pick up a sport. Basketball is awesome too. Snowboarding is my new thing, but that's tough to do all the time. Pool? Table tennis? All great sports.

Go shopping. Hahaha. That's a challenge for guys, but it can be fun for me. I don't go as often as say girls do, but when I do go it's because I need clothes, and I always enjoy it.
