Would you rather be alive with a little less money because of an ER visit, or dead?

no. It means get in a damned car and go. You have insurance for a reason. Otherwise we may have to ask the mods to sticky this thread as the last thread of stormrider.

You remind me of myself... I generally hate going to doctors and other health care facilities for any reason whatsoever.

That said, you need to seek medical care. Now. Go.

I promise to go as soon as possible but it really doesn't seem like an emergency room situation to me. I promise to make a call first thing tomorrow morning and explain my situation and try to see a doctor the same day.

swollen lymph nodes are 8/10 times nothing serious at all. it depends on the degree of swelling and the shape and hardness of the swollen lymph node.

Your symptoms are certainly deserving of a doctor's visit, but I don't think they are cause for panic as indicated by the hypocondriacs here in ATOT. Get yourself to a doctor, but if it takes 2-3 days, it shouldn't make any significant difference. (if you already have cancer...)

ATOT Medical team is probably more expensive than a visit to your hospital/Doctor :p and good luck OP. Hopefully, its nothing.

I've worked in ERs before, and trust me when I say that even if your situation isn't particularly life-threatening, it sounds to be a more valid and pressing concern than half the stuff that would walk through those doors.

I won't say one way or another whether you should seek emergent care. However, I will say that regardless of what you do, getting in to see a doctor in the very near future couldn't hurt.

I'd definitely request them to take blood if they don't take it already. I went to the doctors and we asked them to take blood and it found that i had something pretty life threatening, i probably would have ignored the symptoms i was having even longer if i didn't have the blood taken.

My guesses, and that's all they are without more history/exam.

Atopic dermatitis.
Morbid obesity. (you said so yourself.)
Poor posture, or you sit incorrectly for long periods, causing nerve impingement. (pins/needles/numbness/headaches)
No exercise. (see item 2) General malaise.

As far as the exam, you may be asked to disrobe but with your undies on. If they want to check your pubic/anal region they will have you remove them at that point. Don't worry, they have seen it before, trust me. If you are worried about your penis size just go in with a woody and say how excited you are to be there. ;)

Most of the exam will be basic stuff: weighing, blood pressure, temperature, general background questions. <--that is usually done by the nurse or medical assistant. The doctor will review that info, ask you some more specific questions and then do an exam. They will probably: listen to your lungs, palpate (feel) your neck, chest, back, abdomen, as well as some percussion. (they lay one hand and tap on it with the other, gives density info of internals.) Also, they will look in your ears, eyes, nose, throat. Since you are over 40 the doc will probably do a prostate exam, don't worry, you just lay on your side on the table and it's over before you know it. (except for the slimy butt, yup, I said it.) Probably send you to a lab, if they don't do it, to have a general workup of your blood done.

After that the doc will speak with you again and go over any concerns and/or findings.

Kudos for finally going, if nothing else it will stop your worrying.

Just go to a walk-in clinic. The doctor will see you TODAY. They will do a basic examine and get any tests started. That is what I would do. The cost is not much if anymore then a regular appt. either.

I'm not a medical expert so take what I say with a pinch of salt, but you should definitely get yourself checked out as soon possible for the simple reason that you are clearly worried about yourself. Although the spot on your skin is genuine cause for concern, talking about cancer of the brain because you feel dizzy just shows that you are presently very anxious and hyper vigilant about your health. If you let the current situation persist you will risk mental illness as well from being in a state of helpless worry.

Go to a doctor, and things can only get better.
