Look, just post some porn and get banned for a year, maybe you'll learn how to type a complete sentence by then. And we get porn. :D

Your computer is pretty current. I would keep it.
It's so not worth blowing money on desktop. Maybe laptop.

No, I don't know how that works out. Lazy ass.

Dude, if you can't type.. and you're to lazy to type. You're going to hate how painstakingly long video editing and creation will take.

You would freak out about image creation and editing.

2) Head unit
3) Sub (ONE of them, not ten)
Best $500 you'll ever spend on a car.

If he spends anywhere near 500 bucks on that.. I should shoot him... and you for giving him that advice.

Used head unit.. used subs.. used amp..

I bought an RF X3 (300w 2 Channel amp) 2 Alpine Type R 12s and a JVC Headunit for 400 CDN. USED. GET IT USED.

Either way.. the kids more spoiled than I am.

I got my own car from my dad, but for the first year of driving I drove my moms 1992 Volvo 240, then after I brought my grades up 10 freaking % I got my car.. it was also my christmas present.. graduation present.. and everything else present.. a used Acura RSX.

I'm ranked number one in my class right now with a 4.417 cumulative GPA, and my parents don't give a rat's ass. I definitely agree though, this kid is way too spoiled.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Grade Point Average a 0-4.0 scale? :p

- M4H

My school uses 0-5.0 scale.

Mine went to 0-6. A 2 was basically a D-

You've got 50,000+ posts which probably equals to at least 15,000 threads. You can't think of a worse one than this?

Somehow I doubt that. If you have the patience to do any type of editing, you should know how to type correctly.

Wow, you 'made movies' and showed them to your school. You're not going to make any money without proving yourself.. I don't think a middle school tech class would prove that you're any good.

If you did that 3 years ago, you would have been what, 13? Oh.. good luck buying a legit copy of Adobe Premier or whatever other program you're going to be using.

You want a good parents and computers rant? Back when I was younger (probably about 13 or 14), my first computer, a 400MHz AMD K6-2, broke (the motherboard died). My mom took me around to various local shops (we didn't know about Newegg ), and I had the parts picked out for a new rig (800MHz Duron / 256MB SDR / 40GB HD setup that's still going strong, though I use a 1.47GHz Athlon XP / 1GB DDR / 36GB+80GB HDs now). My dad put the kibosh on that: "We need to pray about this." I asked the next day, then the next week, then after a few more weeks. "I'm still praying about it." Three [freaking painful] months later, he was still "praying about it" and "hadn't gotten a clear answer from the Lord yet." ( * 10^256 ). Finally, my mom interceded for me, and despite his naysaying, I got my new computer.

So I'm very sorry, but I can't sympathize with you; you seem to come off as a spoiled brat, and since your current computer is quite adequate (better than my best one except for the RAM), I see no reason to side with you rather than your parents. Get a few upgrades (HD, RAM, perhaps VC) and wait until the summer before you go to college to get your college rig.

Why do you need such a powerful rig? Go with a cheaper setup, you don't need SLi capabilities to edit video.

Your parents are correct.

This is the best advice you will get in this thread:

-You do NOT need a new computer right now. That's better than many of the people here have already and they are DOING the work you want to be doing.
-Get clients before you get the new equipment. What happens when you plop down $1000-$1500 on this computer you "need" and the only person you "need" it to do work for is your grandma, who wants you to put your 3rd grade Christmas pagent on a DVD? WHOOPS. BIG WASTE OF EQUIPMENT == BIG WASTE OF MONEY
-By the time you "need" this equipment, it will be well out of date. Get some books, become a video editing master, then you can justify getting equipment for the work you will be doing.
-A large hard drive is about the only thing you need for video editing once you have a fairly new computer. Even a high-end video card won't help THAT much, because if you are only editing, then that means the video content is already created, and you won't have to worry AS MUCH about sharpness and clarity.
-Put the money you do have right now into a savings account. By the time you "need" a new computer, you'll have gained an extra hundred or so bucks, and the hardware you would have bought would be worth half as much, at best.
-You are just NOW getting a car, you have NO idea what it's like to pay for repairs. One month you could spend over a grand on repairs, then not have to do anything but general maintenance for a year and a half. You NEED to hold on to this "extra" money you have laying around. Trust me.

Bottom line, once again, your parents are right. You are sixteen. You don't need it. But if you want to be a stupid little kid who wastes his money on a system he will NEVER get the use out of, go for it. Don't cry to me when you are 25 and know jack sh!t about money management because you didn't want to listen to your parents.
