Although I personally prefer Linksys, here's a Netgear RP614 Cable/DSL Router for $70 out the door with no MIR.

Netgear?s RP614 Cable/DSL Web Safe Router with 4-port switch gives parents and network administrators complete control over network contact with the Internet. Assign restricted access policies based on time of day, Web address, or Web address keywords. The RP614 enforces these policies and sends you email reports on all browsing activity, plus instant alerts to notify you of unauthorized Web page access attempts. Rest assured that your network is protected against hackers thanks to Network Address Translation (NAT) firewall. You can share your high-speed cable/DSL Internet access with as many as 253 personal computers. Constructed of sturdy metal, this compact router is designed for durability. And easy to set up! Web-based instructions guide you through the installation process so your network, including Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems, can be up and running in less than an hour.

Features:
Parental control of web browsing.
Auditing and e-mail reporting of web browsing activities.
Built in 4-port switch enables Cable/DSL Internet sharing.
Easy, web-based setup for complete configuration.

Very easy to configure, in fact the standard settings are probably all you need so you don't even have to set anything. :) The Linksys BEFSR41 is what I use and recommend.

Oops, almost forgot, once I get a Lynksys, will I still need ZoneAlarm ?

No.

Agreed.

Just re-did my main system and I've ditched the old ZoneAlarm Pro. I don't need extra stuff running that doesn't do anything. ;)

Chalk up another! :)

I used that router for over a year until I picked up the Microsoft Wireless Router/AP and it never gave me a problem. Installation was so easy too....I don't think you'll have a problem with it! :)

We actually use both. The Linksys router and the Microsoft WAP, they work beautifully together.

You might have done this when you mentioned 'set up' but better safe than sorry ;)

Have you tried that yet?

With my roommate's it works just fine, brings up the Linksys web browser, login, muck around.

Well that was fun, no internet access for 5 days because of a screwed up TCP/IP stack on Win98SE, ended up formatting my hard drive and reinstalling Winblows without the router, very weird, If I hook up just the router after a fresh install, my Network neighborhood icon disappears, If I try to hook up the cable after hooking up the router (Router removed) I cannot get internet access because of the stinking TCP/IP stack.
I tried removing and reinstalling the stack to no avail, If I format and do a fresh install of Win 98SE, I have no problems with the cable modem, as soon as the router is hooked up...BOOM, no network Neighborhood, no connection to the internet.
