Abortion is fantastic. If you've ever seen an inner city ghetto, you walk away supporting abortion.
My slam-dunk reasoning for supporting abortion is that --
1. the science will always be inconclusive about fetal life. Most people against it are driven by their sense of religious metaphysics, which is entirely theoretical.
2. Restrictions would cause unnecessary stress for women. Especially if a woman aborts a fetus which *may* kill her. Should she or her doctor be open to criminal penalty? Patently ridiculous.
2a. Living women >>> potential life
3. Even if the science could be proved, on a utilitarian level a newly born child hasn't lived a life and has not forged any meaningful connection with anyone. As the child grows up of course he or she develops meaningful connections and thus is more valuable. But at birth it constitutes a potential life and thus is utterly disposable.
4. Abortion has reduced the crime rate (my favorite) because unwanted babies are more prone to anti-social criminality due to their bad start in this world.
5. There are already 7 trillion people in this world and there are bigger problems like climate change and depletion of natural resources, not to mention destruction of animal species throughout the world as a result of people moving into natural habitats. There are too many people and I'd like to see fewer.
